As RedState reported, President Donald Trump gave an impromptu presser while on Capitol Hill on Tuesday. While discussions about the upcoming reconciliation bill were the highlight, he was also asked about the recent criminal indictment of Rep. LaMonica McIver, and fireworks ensued. 

If you're unfamiliar with the case, McIver was filmed shoving and throwing punches at ICE agents as she and other Democrats attempted to bull rush into an ICE facility in New Jersey. While she initially played the victim, the evidence appeared to show her as the clear aggressor, and the Department of Justice decided to move forward.

McIver, who is in red, can be seen in the video below allegedly committing assault.

Yet, despite what is clearly on tape, a reporter still tried to accuse Trump of weaponizing the DOJ to go after the congresswoman. He wasn't having any of it.

REPORTER: (Inaudible) Mr. President...(inaudible) your DOJ was weaponized with the arrest of a congresswoman, Democrat congresswoman.

TRUMP: Oh, give me a break! Did you see her? She was out of control. Those days are over. The days of woke...

REPORTER: Did you tell her to do that? 

TRUMP: No, I didn't, the days of woke are over. That woman, I have no idea who she is, that woman was out of control. She was shoving federal agents. She was out of control. The days of that crap are over in this country. We're going to have law and order.

This is Twilight Zone stuff. McIver was filmed shoving ICE agents and throwing at least one punch while trying to trespass into a federal facility by breaking through a secure checkpoint, and this reporter wants to know if the DOJ is being "weaponized" by charging her? Did this guy ever ask that question of the Biden administration when it did use the DOJ to go after its political enemies? I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that he didn't. 

To be clear, any normal person who did what McIver did wouldn't have even been allowed to go home that day. They'd have been slammed onto the pavement, cuffed, and hauled off to jail. If anything, she's been treated with kid gloves to this point, and the DOJ is graciously allowing her to turn herself in instead of being perp-walked. If anything, Pam Bondi and company could have been a lot harsher if the goal was to make a political point. They'd also have chosen a target that wasn't a complete nobody. I didn't even know McIver existed until this happened. 

Every time you might be tempted to think the press can't get worse, they manage to find a way. What happened to "no one is above the law?" What happened to holding politicians accountable for their actions? Those were the talking points when Biden was in office, but suddenly, journalists want double standards. Funny how that works.
