Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has some explaining to do. According to a new report, the Democrat covered up a $61,930 trip that was paid for by Qatar. Worse, Bowser allegedly lied about it, claiming that the D.C. Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Conference of Mayors footed the bill.
Scott Taylor of WJLA 7 (a local ABC affiliate) broke the story, claiming that the mayor is now scrambling to collect the receipts so she can try to file them with the District and avoid legal penalities.

EXCLUSIVE: The nation of Qatar paid $61,930 in travel expenses for @MayorBowser & 4 staff members in 2023 for a trip to the Middle East.
The Mayor's Office said the trip was covered by DC's Chamber of Commerce which wasn't true and then it said it was paid by the U.S. Conference of Mayors which was also not true.
After my investigation exposed the truth Bowser is now asking Qatar to give her office reciepts for the trip because she never filed them with the District.
I also discovered her office is asking Qatar to sign a Donation Agreement two years after the trip. Something that according to the Mayor's memorandeum was suppose to be done before she ever left for the trip.
The corruption here is disturbing enough, but can we just stop and ask the obvious questions: Why does the mayor of a U.S. city need to go to the Middle East? And why was Qatar, a country that constantly works against American interests, willing to pay for such a trip?
Understand, the Qataris don't do anything out of the goodness of their hearts. They are manipulative actors who operate as a proxy of the Iranians. Billions of dollars have been spent by the tiny Middle Eastern nation within the United States to influence our policies and elections, both in academia and through lobbying efforts.

That means that if Qatar was paying for Bowser to go to the Middle East, there was some nefarious reason for it, and we should probably be trying to figure that out. For context, the Qataris have been at the forefront of propping up Islamism, from Hamas to the Muslim Brotherhood. In other words, even if this arrangement with Bowser was legal, it should still be a major scandal.
But was this legal? Taylor doesn't seem to think so, and logically, one would think there are laws covering the misrepresentation of foreign money paying for the overseas trips of city officials. There may also be federal laws in play, given that a foreign country is involved. Heck, I'm old enough to remember when Democrats convicted President Donald Trump of 34 felonies over what amounted to a QuickBooks entry. Yet, here's one of the country's most prominent mayors lying on official paperwork about Qatar funding her escapades. That appears to be much worse.
For what the actual legal ramifications are, though, we'll have to wait and see. It would probably take the Trump DOJ getting involved in whatever way they can for anything to happen because you can bet that local prosecutors, who you can safely assume are all Democrats, aren't going to touch this.
