Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made history when he broke Terrell Davis' record for most rushing yards in a season. That he did it while winning the Super Bowl in a 40-22 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs made it all the sweeter. But as with everything, politics is always lurking around the corner.

On Sunday, Barkley dared to play golf with President Donald Trump ahead of the Eagles' visit to the White House, a yearly custom for whichever team wins the Super Bowl. That led to shrieks of horror from the left, who claimed the running back was enabling fascism and racism.
Trump posted video of himself exiting Marine One with NFL player Saquon Barkley.

If you attend a Trump event, show up at his golf clubs, his Mar-a-Lago home, or the White House, you could be used as propaganda to legitimize his extreme policies. pic.twitter.com/jKxmSnMRof

It was bad optics. He was invited. He went. It was his choice.
Those who pay attention know Trump hurts the disadvantaged, and eliminates DEI, and ignores the right of due process.
Those who care now know Barkley doesn’t.
Very disappointed in you saquon barkley like wtf hanging out with trump who is a disgrace to this country

It's crazy to think that people are this invested in Trump being the epitome of evil, to the point where they'd freak out on an NFL player for enjoying a round of golf with the President of the United States. I don't know Barkley's politics (he supported Colin Kaepernick, so I'd guess he's not a conservative), but do they really matter in this situation? I'm sure the running back is capable of separating whatever policy positions he cares about from hitting a small ball around a well-manicured course.
Not everything someone does has to reinforce their politics. In fact, living that way is profoundly unhealthy. Besides, does it matter? Trump is president. He doesn't become any more or less president depending on who associates with him.
Still, in situations like this, we've often seen the person being attacked backtrack and apologize. To his credit, Barkley didn't do that, though. Instead, he basically told the lunatics to sit down and shut up.
lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT. Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump ! Now ya get out my…

Naturally, left-wingers then proceeded to lash out in his mentions even harder, but that was to be expected. The only answer they accept is total subservience to their narrative, and that means treating Trump as a pariah instead of just politely disagreeing with whatever policies they don't like. Thankfully, Barry (a legend in the sports satire world) showed up to troll them.
The legend speaks. No, not that one. The other one. pic.twitter.com/TKdfVJLi4E

Maybe celebrities, whether in sports, music, or Hollywood, are finally getting the message. There is nothing to be gained by bending to knee to the far left. They will always be miserable, and they will always hate you if you step out of line. So don't give them the satisfaction of bowing to their demands. "Pound sand" is always the best response.
