WATCH: Ted Cruz Challenger Colin Allred Gets Brutally Fact-Checked On-Air

Claiming that something lacks "context" has become a catch-all for many politicians, and Democrat Colin Allred is no different. The current House representative is facing off against Ted Cruz for a U.S. Senate seat and running surprisingly close in some polls. He also decided to blatantly lie to a local news channel about his position on the border wall and got brutally fact-checked in response.

ABC 2, which airs in parts of West Texas, recently interviewed Allred, and he was pressed about some of his past comments. Those included a hearing in 2018 in which he called the border wall "racist" and insisted his generation would "tear it down," a statement Cruz allies have been using in ads. In response to the reporter's question on the matter, Allred insisted "that's a comment taken out of context." The news station was ready, though.

REPORTER: Do you still believe that the border wall is racist and would you support legislation that provides funding to control more of it?

ALLRED: Well, they're talking, that's a comment taken out of context, really.

NARRATION: Well, hold on, here's the context.

(Cuts to video of 2018 hearing)

ALLRED: Well, I want to really briefly talk about this racist wall because the symbol of this country can't be a fence with a barbwire on top of it. It has to remain the Statute of Liberty, and I'll tell you what, if they build that racist wall, my generation will be the one who will tear it down.

NARRATION: It's true, he said that on multiple occasions...

Can anyone point to the supposed missing context that changes the meaning of what Allred clearly said on video? There's nothing ambiguous about his statement. He called the border wall racist twice and then directly pledged to tear it down. In short, Allred is a far-left Democrat, cosplaying as a moderate for electoral gain.

Having been privy to some of his television ads, almost all of them focus on a supposed break with his party on the issue of illegal immigration. In one instance, he claims to have "stood up" to Joe Biden on the border. Did he, though? To put it succinctly, no.

To prove that, one only needs to look at his voting record. Allred enjoys a 100 percent "Biden score," which means he has not opposed the president on a single policy position via legislation. So what's he using to support his claim of independence? Allred voted for a resolution after announcing his candidacy that condemned Biden's handling of the border. It was set to pass with or without his vote.

No one should believe he did that for any other reason than to create a talking point for his campaign. When the rubber hit the road, Allred was a reliable rubber stamp for the Democratic Party, and he'll be so again if he makes it to the Senate. His campaign is a scam. It's an attempt to run away from who he really is in a desperate effort to pull the wool over the eyes of voters. Come to think of it, there's a lot of that going around among Democrats.
