The Harris campaign has finally responded to the stolen valor scandal engulfing Tim Walz. In a very lacking statement delivered to NBC News, an unnamed "spokesperson" claimed that Walz "misspoke" when he claimed to have carried weapons "in war" during a rant against the Second Amendment.
After being called out for days over lying about going to war to help himself politically - The Harris campaign just put out a statement under *an unnamed spokesperson* admitting that Tim Walz lied. Walz didn't even have the decency to put the statement out under his own name? pic.twitter.com/GzAJQQGBwo

That statement is simply not good enough. For one, any apology on this subject should come directly from Walz, not some anonymous staffer. The snark and dismissal of how serious the issue is also insults those who have served. Walz has repeatedly claimed or insinuated that he served in a war zone. What was in the video mentioned above was just one of several examples that have been documented.

The Harris campaign is nothing if it isn't arrogant. Because the press continues to go out of its way to protect the Democrat ticket, there is no pressure to offer a legitimate explanation nor to do so in a way that could actually be taken seriously. Walz has stolen valor for the better part of two decades. Hiding behind an unnamed spokesperson is as cowardly a move as abandoning his unit just prior to its deployment to Iraq.

This scandal isn't going away. It's certainly not going to be ended by a tepid, disrespectful statement that doesn't even amount to an actual apology. You can bet there are more shoes to drop as well. Stay tuned.
