Has any other institution in America been corrupted more quickly than the U.S. Military? There was a time when Republicans were strong supporters of the various branches of service, willing to give those leading them the benefit of the doubt in just about any situation.
Politics was politics, but military leadership was seen as above the fray, able to be trusted to do the right thing and not overstep their bounds in relation to the civilian government. Those days are long gone, replaced by top-ranking officers and officials who seek to advance left-wing politics over readiness.
For the last several years, the different branches have turned away from ensuring America can actually win a war (something that hasn't been accomplished in decades) and have instead focused on things like LGBT outreach and "diversity, equity, and inclusion." The results have been predictable, with recruiting cratering as the historically counted-on demographic of white men from military families has been publicly shunned as impure.
Even still, the leaders of the U.S. Armed Forces weren't done spitting on most of the country. Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade, military leaders joined hands with the Biden administration to use taxpayer money to fund out-of-state abortions. It was a brutal betrayal of the American people, who had long counted on the military to stay out of such fights.
As a way to try to change that policy, Sen. Tommy Tuberville began to hold up the votes on promotions for top officers. Now, the same military leadership who created this situation by doing the bidding of left-wing politicians is crying foul, claiming that the hold is helping "autocratic" and "communist" dictatorships.

I've got a very simple response to that: Go jump in a lake.
The idea that military leaders, such as the Secretary of the Navy in the above clip, have any right to lecture American voters on "aiding and abetting" autocratic regimes because they don't want their tax dollars paying for abortions is insane. I'd just assume see the federal armed forces completely collapse before I give into that kind of ridiculous political blackmail. If Carlos Del Toro wants Tuberville to release his hold, he can stop circumventing state abortion laws with taxpayer money. It's that simple.
These people clearly think they are an institution unto themselves, beholden to no one. That's exactly why the next Republican president can't just let bygones be bygones. Whoever it is must completely gut the ranks of the military. All these far-left generals and appointed officials need to be forced into retirement, and some semblance of meritocratic order must to be restored, where "diversity" isn't a factor but actual ability is.
For too long, Republicans have put unwavering trust in the military. While in power, they let the academies and the officer class push a progressive agenda, believing that interfering would be improper. That trust has been violated, though, and a reckoning is due.
