Deranged: El-Sayed Staffer Tries to Tie Mike Rogers' Patriotic Truck to the KKK and White Supremacy

It’s a disturbing trend in the U.S. that America-hating socialists aren’t just getting attention; they’re winning elections.

Who would have thought even a few years ago that a radical who justifies terrorists, spews violent political diatribes, supported defunding the police in 2020, associates with toxic antisemites like Hasan Piker, and much more would become a Michigan Democratic nominee for Senate?

We’re talking about public-health administrator Abdul El-Sayed, of course, the progressive who defeated Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) in the primary. He’ll tee off former representative and current GOP Senate nominee Mike Rogers in the November general election.

Even El-Sayed’s staff is noxious. Check out this patriotic campaign ad from Rogers, which features a red vintage truck rolling down the highway with the Trump-backed candidate riding shotgun, accompanied by country star Toby Keith's "American Ride."

And why shouldn't he be driving in a vintage vehicle — he was participating in the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Metro Detroit, billed as the world's largest one-day celebration of car culture.

He was having a good time:

Most normal people would find nothing offensive about this fairly typical campaign video — it’s got an enthusiastic intro (“Gotta love this American Ride!”), patriotism, a little nostalgia, and an upbeat tune. It has nothing to do with race or “white supremacy,” and in no way evokes images of the Ku Klux Klan.

I said most normal people would be hard-pressed to explain why such a post should be considered hateful, but progressive socialists are anything but normal and spend their days trying to inject racism, sexism, and pro-radical Islam into virtually every discussion. Look at this repulsive response from 20-year-old El-Sayed campaign staffer Mason Pressler, who is the campaign’s political manager for Northern Michigan:

Read that again to let it sink in: “Mike Rogers’ campaign has the aesthetics of a 1960s white flight suburb and a KKK cross burning.”

To Pressler, a vintage truck with an American flag is somehow comparable to hateful KKK rallies. This is how deranged they’ve become — searching for a link to the KKK in an innocuous ad where there is none to be found. He’s obviously implying that Rogers is a racist, but really, who’s the racist here?

Pressler should also study history, something he might have skimmed over while he was presumably attending online social justice classes:

Experts agree the KKK attracted many ex-Confederate soldiers and Southerners who opposed Reconstruction, most of whom were Democrats. [Nathan Bedford] Forrest [the first grandmaster] even spoke at the 1868 Democratic National Convention.

“The KKK is almost a paramilitary organization that’s trying to benefit one party. It syncs up with the Democratic Party, which really was a racist party openly at the time,” [The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History curator Jon] Grinspan said.

Certainly, much has changed since those days, but when Democrats try to run from the facts, remind them that longtime senator Robert C. Byrd (D-WV) was once a member of the hate group and was elected “Exalted Cyclops” of his local chapter. Later, he filibustered the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s. He remained a top Dem in Congress all the way up until his death in 2010.

They didn’t teach you that in your “America Sucks” class, did they, Mason?

It’s just another social media post, one of countless thrown on the interwebs every single day, but it does illustrate how bitter and consumed with illogical rage so many of these Marxists on the Left have become. And although El-Sayed didn’t post it himself, it shows you the kind of people he surrounds himself with.

People who, shall we say, should never get anywhere near the levers of American political power.
