Well, we soon won’t have Nancy Pelosi to pick on anymore, because she’s retiring and her final day in office will be in January 2027 (applause).
As befitting the cantankerous congresscritter who has been in office for almost 40 years, she’s going out with her usual ugly brand of politics and is currently in a nasty feud with one of the candidates to replace her, the equally unpleasant State Senator Scott Wiener (11). As I wrote Monday, these two certainly deserve each other.
Before she rides off into the sunset, however, she wants to mislead and obfuscate (at least) one more time, and on Tuesday at POLITICO’s The California Agenda: Sacramento Summit, she was more than up to the task. The subject was Joe Biden's obvious long-term mental decline, which was already evident during the 2020 presidential campaign but became more and more obvious through his presidency, something we at RedState reported on for years.
But Pelosi, she who had recently held the powerful position of Speaker of the House, was close friends with the Bidens for decades, and was plugged into the heights of power? She had no idea.
How she can make these declarations with a straight face is beyond me. I almost expected the audience to burst out laughing, or her nose to start growing, because it was just that ludicrous:
Nancy Pelosi said those close to Joe Biden during his reelection campaign should have shared what they knew about his mental acuity — and confirmed she had private conversations with him about her polling concerns.
“I do think that those who did know should have acted upon that information. Whoever knew,” Pelosi, the former House speaker said at POLITICO’s The California Agenda: Sacramento Summit on Tuesday. “There was staff saying the family knew. The family said the staff.”
"Whoever knew," indeed.

Unbelievably, she claims she was completely in the dark all the way up to the Disaster Debate in 2024, where the world could see that there was no chance Ole Joe could lead the country for four more years. This despite the story being the talk of Washington, D.C., the subject of thousands of articles and news stories on outlets not named CNN, MSNBC, or the New York Times, and the most obvious fact to virtually everyone with a pulse since it was revealed that the sky was blue.
Either she's allergic to the truth, or she has the IQ of a lamppost; I can’t think of another explanation.

Nancy Pelosi Discusses Retirement, What She Thinks Her Legacy Will Be, and I Have Thoughts
Although she wouldn’t choose a Democrat to endorse for the ’28 presidential cycle, she predictably gushed over someone connected to her family by marriage, Golden State Gov. Gavin Newsom. I can’t think of a single positive achievement he has brought to the residents of California, but Pelosi notes that he works hard.
“Ever since he was a boy, I would see him work hard in his studies,” she said. “He’s always been responsible, but again, if people, when people make their decision, then we can make a decision about that.”
As someone once told me, sometimes people work just as hard to fail as others do to succeed.
Since both Newsom and former Vice President Kamala Harris have hinted at running, Pelosi could be put in a serious bind. She appears to obviously favor Newsom, but can she really endorse him over a black female candidate?
Not by the rules she and her party have set.

"I’m very proud of Gavin Newsom…he’s just been remarkable…his strategic thinking…his knowledge of issues is so remarkable…he’s laid a great foundation.” pic.twitter.com/tnbMzRnWUm
I would welcome the chance to watch her sweat that one out if it comes down to it, but I don’t look forward to her continuing toxic feuds and endless gaslighting. It’s (long past) time to exit stage left, Nancy.
Editor’s Note: We should be thrilled each and every day that Joe Biden is back home on the beach in Delaware and Kamala is wandering around somewhere in California.
