President Trump wants action on funding our military and passing the voter ID measure, the SAVE America Act, and he wants it now. He’s urging Senate Republicans to use reconciliation to bypass Democrat filibusters and approve a $350 billion bill (Recon 3.0) that would accomplish both goals.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social on Wednesday, he pushed the Senate to pass it “IMMEDIATELY”:
No other President has ever been more committed to both REBUILDING our Great Military and SAVING our Great Country — And NOW is the time to make it happen, for Generations to come.
I am hereby calling on Republicans in Congress to IMMEDIATELY advance and pass the forthcoming $350 Billion Reconciliation Bill (Recon 3.0) — which, at the request of our Great Department of War — will include THE SAVE AMERICA ACT as well. No games, no delays, and no weak compromises! Do this ASAP.
This is a GENERATIONAL Investment in our Military, even bigger than President Reagan’s! Recon 3.0 is the ONLY path to the full $1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR Military Budget our Warriors need in order to build THE ARSENAL OF FREEDOM.
With the huge cash infusion, the president argued that we can make our already dominant military even more powerful:
We will defend the Homeland with the Golden Dome, launch the unstoppable Golden Fleet, dominate the skies with the F-47 and B-21, supercharge our ammunition stockpiles, and achieve total Space Force and Drone Dominance!

The president has been frustrated by Congress’ inability to get the SAVE America Act passed, which would require voter ID and limit mail-in ballots, and after his recent success with the DHS funding bill, which was also accomplished through reconciliation, he’s demanding that Republicans start playing hardball:

As we’ve seen before, however, Trump thinks big, and he wasn’t done. While you’re at it, he told congressional Republicans, let’s solve the idiocy of allowing biological males to beat up on women in women’s athletics:
NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.
NO TRANSGENDER MUTILIZATION SURGERY FOR OUR CHILDREN.
It’s unclear whether he can get all this in one fell swoop. The Usual Suspects are throwing shade on the plan:
His comments come a day after Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee Chair Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) cast doubt on a third reconciliation package.
Collins said a third bill was a “terrible risk” and is likely to create funding “instability” for defense efforts.

Some lawmakers have raised concerns about the legislation that requires proof of citizenship to vote, requires a photo ID, and largely bans mail-in ballots except for cases of illness, disability, military service or travel.
“The SAVE America Act didn’t even get 50 votes last week on the floor of the Senate,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said.
Of course, Senate Republicans could nuke the filibuster, which would give Trump’s agenda a better chance at getting through, but they’ve been reluctant to do away with the tradition despite knowing that the Democrats will probably bury it in a heartbeat if they retake Congress in November.
The clock is ticking.
