The USA men’s Olympic hockey team thrilled millions of Americans with their spectacular 2-1 overtime win on Sunday against archrival Canada. The patriotic, smiling group has shown that they work hard, play hard, and aren’t afraid to display their love of our country.

Of course, that has many leftists in tears, because they can’t handle the thought that maybe the United States of America actually is a guiding light to the rest of the world.

Now the squad has descended on the White House, at the invitation of President Trump. They arrived on an Air Force plane:

Then they descended upon the People’s House:

The president greeted them in the Oval Office:

“These are big guys,” the president noted.

Dan Scavino, deputy chief of staff, shared a video of Mr. Trump greeting players in the Oval Office and said Team USA was in the West Wing "with patriotic music blaring out of the Roosevelt Room."

"Look at these guys. I recognize every one of you. I know every one of you," Mr. Trump told the team, remarking "these are big guys."

Next on the schedule: attending the State of the Union address Tuesday night in the Capitol.

The gold-medal winning U.S. men's hockey team is expected to appear at President Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday night, House Speaker Mike Johnson said ahead of the speech.

In an exclusive interview with "CBS Evening News" anchor Tony Dokoupil, Johnson said the team "will be there with their gold medals."

"Logistics were a bit of a challenge last minute, but I think we'll get that done," Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, said.

Unfortunately, not all the news was happy, as the gold medal women’s team snubbed Trump’s invite. It could be because of a joke Trump made that some thought was demeaning to the team, but their official excuse was that it was due to “the timing and previously scheduled academic and professional commitments.”

Yeah, because when the president of the United States asks you to visit, you really need to get that dentist appointment out of the way. Or something.

But back to the people who did show up: Here are the young men roaming the Presidential Walk of Fame that Trump installed (complete with a photo of an autopen to represent Joe Biden).

It looks like it was a festive day all around. It’s far from over, though — they'll need to get ready for the SOTU. Speaking of which, RedState will be liveblogging the entire thing, so mark your calendars right now and be sure to join us. The fun will kick off shortly before 9:00 p.m. ET.

Editor's Note: With President Trump back in the White House, the state of our Union is strong once again.
