Federal prosecutors have filed charges in Minnesota against multiple individuals, many of Somali descent, for defrauding the government out of hundreds of millions of dollars from the state's incredibly generous social programs. As RedState’s Jennifer Oliver O’Connell wrote, “Minnesota's governor [Democrat Tim Walz] not only turned a blind eye to what was occurring among the Somalis, but deliberately blocked or targeted anyone who was vocal about this corruption and sought to be a whistleblower.”
Meanwhile, an X account claiming to represent 480 staff at the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), which blasted Gov. Walz for ignoring their warnings about the fraud, was suspended Monday. They had posted this the day before:
Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota. We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response. Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports.
🚨 BREAKING: The Minnesota Department of Human Services Employees account has been suspended (again)!

Can we get this fixed @elonmusk?
I can personally attest to this group’s legitimacy. These are REAL whistleblowers trying to shine a light on fraud in Minnesota! pic.twitter.com/ERWkOS1L9J
Even as I’m writing, the account appears to be active again, although it has a new name, “Minnesota Staff Fraud Reporting Commentary,” indicating that it is not an official government account.
Minutes ago, the group posted an update saying they were back:
As many are aware, we were permanently suspended several hours ago. However, we are back up due in no small part to the support of many of you. We are very grateful and moved by your support. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.

We originally started an X account in October…
We originally started an X account in October 2022, which we received many threats over. It was finally suspended in March 2023. We stated a new X account because we thought we had a worthwhile message.
It is unclear why the account was taken down, but it could have something to do with their tweet on Monday, where they claimed they had warned then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris and the DNC about Walz. They were rebuffed there, too.
"We tried our best to keep the public informed as our tweets are public. Maybe Kamala Harris turned a blind eye to fraud like her running mate?," the Minnesota Department of Human Service Employees account — which says it represents more than 480 current staff members at the Minnesota Department of Human Services — posted on X.
"Over the years, our messages have not changed. We need fraud to stop in Minnesota and good governance to be restored," it added.
Looks like the Minnesota DHS page was taken down, this is a screen recording I saved this morning. pic.twitter.com/Nb5j49guQT

The group had tweeted Kamala’s account in 2024 with a warning:
A post from the group on X in September 2024 replied directly to Harris’ account, explaining that Walz has "caused incredible harm to our state & agencies, [and] retaliated against whistleblowers against fraud."
Minnesota is currently at the center of a widening fraud scandal as federal prosecutors continue to unravel scandals, including one of the nation’s largest COVID-era fraud cases.
We’ll just have to wait and see what X decides to do (if anything) about the reactivated employee account. In the meantime, things just continue to get worse for Tim Walz, as his already dubious credibility suffers from blow after blow, and Kamala Harris’ weird choice in picking him to be her running mate is under scrutiny again. Sometimes it’s easy to forget what a bullet we the people dodged: Can you imagine those two incompetents running our government right now?
It almost happened.
