Waffle Master Hakeem Jeffries Finally Endorses Mamdani, GOP Quickly Fires Off Blistering Response

After months of waffling, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) finally endorsed democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York City. Showing a complete lack of leadership, Jeffries has consistently deflected questions on Mamdani as more and more concerns about the far-left candidate came up, including his apparent lack of respect for the police, his repeated refusal to condemn the loaded phrase “globalize the intifada,” and his visit with an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has shown a similar lack of spine and has not endorsed Mamdani as of this writing, although Empire State Gov. Kathy Hochul has. Current Mayor Eric Adams, who ran as an independent but dropped out due to lack of support, spurned Mamdani on Thursday and endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the job.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve come to a place where Cuomo is the better choice. (Republican Curtis Sliwa is running a distant third.)

Jeffries finally made his decision, but true to form, his endorsement was described as lukewarm:

The Brooklyn congressman endorsed the Democratic mayoral front-runner in a lukewarm statement to the New York Times that noted he has “areas of principled disagreement” with the socialist.

Still, Jeffries lauded Mamdani’s focus on “affordability” during the campaign and argued there was a need for the Democratic Party to unite in the face of an “existential” threat from President Trump.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was less than impressed:

Johnson's tweet continued:

Meanwhile, Republicans are fighting to lower costs, make streets safer, secure our border, and deliver peace through strength. The contrast has never been more clear.

Marxist Zohran Mamdani's extreme agenda is the future of the Democrat Party— but we will NOT allow it to be the future of America.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) blasted Jeffries’ endorsement and announced plans to immediately air hard-hitting ads in key districts:

The NRCC's ad, which is set to air in 12 congressional districts in New York and seven districts in New Jersey, features a picture of the hammer and sickle, symbols associated with communism.

Trump has criticized Mamdani as a "communist" and a "100% communist lunatic."

The president has also threatened that if Mamdani becomes mayor and tries to limit cooperation with federal agencies like U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), then "we'll have to arrest him."

"TOGETHER, WE CAN RAISE TAXES, DEFUND THE POLICE, & BUILD A SOCIALIST NEW YORK," the ad says. Meanwhile, in a statement, NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole said Saturday (emphasis theirs):

“‘Leader’ Hakeem Jeffries just handed the keys to radical socialist Zohran Mamdani, and now out of touch Democrats are painfully tied to their party’s new leader. Every single one of them owns the socialist agenda and is now a willing accomplice in their own party’s collapse.”

That about sums up the situation. Virtually all polls show Mamdani in the lead. It sure looks like he’s going to be the next mayor of New York City. Being a former New Yorker, my heart grieves for the Big Apple. I don’t see this going well.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
