Here We Go Again: Raging Senate Dems Forget That They're Not in Power, Vote to Continue Schumer Shutdown

Somebody forgot to tell the Senate Democrats, “led” by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), that they lost the presidential election in November and are the minority party in both chambers of Congress. They somehow still think they can force their leftist progressive agenda on the American people, even though the voters told them in no uncertain terms that they weren’t interested.

On Wednesday, the Dems blocked a continuing resolution for the third time that would have continued to fund the government. We are now officially in a shutdown—thanks, guys.

The ridiculous thing about what the Democrats are doing is that the continuing resolution wasn’t a partisan measure; it simply would have kept the government running while broader budget negotiations continued.

Despite Republican leaders signaling confidence that more Democrats would cross the aisle, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and his caucus blocked the GOP’s continuing resolution (CR) for the third time with a 53-45 vote.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., plans to bring the same bill to the floor again and again in a bid to crank up pressure on Senate Democrats. The Senate is expected to leave town on Thursday to observe Yom Kippur but will return Friday to continue voting. In order to advance the bill, Thune needs at least 60 votes to smash through the Senate filibuster.

Republicans accuse Democrats of trying to fund healthcare for illegal immigrants, which Democrats deny. But listen to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA):

Polls show that the Schumer Shutdown is extremely unpopular with the American people, yet this is the hill the Democrats are apparently willing to die on. Schumer is terrified of being primaried by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and is bowing to his extremist progressive base after being pilloried in March for voting for a similar spending measure.

The Dems may regret this moment, however, because Trump and Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought have vowed to use the opportunity to make huge cuts in government personnel.

Meanwhile, Schumer, Jeffries and Co. continue to rage on social media and accuse Trump of causing the shutdown. It’s a pretty strange argument, since they’re the ones who voted against funding the government.

I think the Democrats have made a very grave error by betting the farm on this one, and I expect their abysmal approval ratings to plummet even further.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
