We’ve covered the story extensively—Donald Trump sees the ongoing, unthinkable level of crime and violence that goes on daily in the nation’s capital, decides to do something about it, federalizes the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), and deploys the National Guard.
What happens? Crime plummets to levels not seen in years.
If you’re a Democrat, however, you don’t like this for several reasons: 1) It makes President Trump look good, which you can’t stomach even if lives are at stake, and 2) you don’t actually care about crime and don’t mind seeing it continue in our nation’s cities. (Some might think that’s a harsh assessment—I would tell them to look at the crime rates in Baltimore, Chicago, D.C., Oakland et cetera, et cetera over the years, and tell me if it looks like their leaders give a damn.)
What’s a good little Democrat to do in this situation, then? Sue, of course, because that’s what they seem to be best at these days:
Washington, DC, officials are suing the Trump administration, accusing the president of violating the Constitution and federal law by sending thousands of National Guard troops into the city without consent from local leaders.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday by DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb, claims the troops – many from out of state – have been deputized by the US Marshals office and are patrolling neighborhoods, conducting searches and making arrests, despite federal laws that generally bar the military from acting as local police.
NOW: DC is suing President Donald Trump over his deployment of thousands of National Guard troops to the nation’s capital, escalating local opposition to the administration’s moves to exert more control over the city’s day-to-day affairs. More to come.

Here’s the ironic part:
The lawsuit argues that the deployment undermines the city’s autonomy, erodes trust between residents and law enforcement and damages the local economy by discouraging tourism and hurting businesses.
I would think the rampant carjacking and violence would erode the “trust between residents and law enforcement,” not the efforts to clamp down on it. I would think that visitors' fear of getting assaulted would discourage tourists and "hurt business."
But none of that matters to Brian Schwalb.
President Trump lawfully and appropriately deployed the military to our nation’s capital after local Democrat politicians refused to do their jobs and allowed crime to get out of control.

Shamefully, DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb is now suing Trump.

The tweet continues:
Schwalb would rather appease his rich white liberal friends in NW than save black lives in SE.
(Did these same Democrats complain when Biden deployed the military—with walls, razor wire, service rifles, and checkpoints—for months after January 6th?)
Congress must repeal the DC Home Rule Act of 1973.
Our nation’s capital belongs to all Americans.
Dems Double Down on Idiocy As New Poll Shows Huge Popularity of Trump's Crime-Fighting Efforts
The lawsuit comes after the Trump Team suffered a legal setback in California, where a federal judge ruled that the administration’s deployment of National Guard troops to stop the rioting over ICE raids was unlawful.
THIS HAPPENED: Breaking: Federal Judge Finds Trump Admin's L.A. National Guard Deployment Violated Posse Comitatus Act
The reality is, we don’t want to live in a police state, and that’s why there are laws like Posse Comitatus, which is aimed at making sure the military doesn’t become the nation’s domestic law enforcement arm. However, we don’t want to live in a lawless state either—and that’s where we are now in many of our cities.
For Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson—the list goes on—and now D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb, they’re fine with the status quo of bodies piling up weekend after weekend as long as they can keep Trump from getting a win and they can keep pushing their destructive “progressive” policies.
We’ll see where this one goes, but based on what we’ve seen from the lower branches of the judiciary since Trump took his second oath of office, I’m not optimistic about the outcome of this one.
Editor's Note: The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over. Thanks to President Trump, our nation's capital will be SAFE once again.
