Sly Stallone Bails on California, Casey DeSantis Says 'Welcome to the Free State of Florida!'

Rocky Balboa is apparently hanging up his boxing gloves — at least in the state of California.

Superstar Sylvester Stallone, he of the "Rocky" franchise, the "Rambo" oeuvre, and many more Hollywood productions, announced to his family on video that he was selling his house in the Golden State and relocating to Florida.

Stallone broke the knockout news to his stunned daughters, saying that he was leaving California for good:

The "Rocky" icon made the announcement on the season two premiere of the reality show, "The Family Stallone."

"After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida," Sylvester told his three daughters: Scarlet, 21, Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27 – referring to his wife of 26 years, Jennifer Flavin.

He added, "We're gonna sell this house. We already have the place, it's a done deal."

He'll have a nice place to stay when he gets to the Sunshine State, as the Palm Beach Daily News reported that Sly purchased a massive $35.4 million estate on 1.5 lakefront acres. He's also likely to enjoy the fact that Florida has no state income tax, which could have a huge (positive) effect on his wallet.

He's already receiving a warm welcome, with Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis' wife throwing out the welcome mat:

Brutal.

Not only is Mrs. DeSantis welcoming the silver screen star, but she's expertly trolling CA Gov. Gavin Newsom and the far-left legislature, who have together been on a seemingly hell-bent mission to destroy the state.

California's taxes are among the highest in the nation, while enjoyment of life has plummeted unabated since Newsom became governor. Crime is rampant, homeless encampments have taken over the major cities, and the leaders seem far more focused on pushing progressive viewpoints on their citizens than they do on actually improving their lives.

I love California, it's an absolutely wonderful place — I just hate what these idiots are doing to it.

Stallone didn't explicitly mention these issues; he said he wanted a new creative spark:

"I wasn’t moving because, ‘Oh, wow, I wanted another beautiful view.’ Any time changing that paradigm which you become used to, it’s literally to jump-start that process again," he explained.

Still, it seems like a sign of the times when a Hollywood star leaves... Hollywood. What is inarguable is that he becomes the latest in an ever-lengthening line of residents, businesses, and celebrities to head for the off-ramp.
