Former Democratic Pennsylvania state Rep. Jesse White was arrested Tuesday after FBI agents raided his Mechanicsburg-area home and allegedly discovered more than 100 child pornography files meticulously organized by category on a laptop and an external hard drive.
White, 48, faces two federal charges: receipt, distribution, and possession of child pornography. He was taken into federal custody and was awaiting a detention hearing Wednesday. He has not been convicted.
The investigation was triggered by tips submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline on June 19. At least one of the reports flagged material that appeared to have been produced at home, not simply downloaded.

According to the criminal complaint, the first image showed a nude boy believed to be 5 or 6 years old standing in a shower. A man could be seen reflected in the glass, holding a phone and apparently taking the picture. Metadata traced the photo to January 2019, on a phone registered to White.
A second tip involved an image of a boy estimated to be between 9 and 11 years old, taken in August 2021 and also linked to White.

When agents executed the search warrant and seized his devices, they found a Lenovo laptop containing images of children between the ages of 7 and 15 engaged in sexually explicit activity. A separate hard drive held roughly 100 files sorted by category, with some labeled by the children's ages.
White didn't wait to be asked. He reportedly told agents on his own that they would find child pornography on the devices they were seizing. He initially tried to describe the material as "inappropriate content," then clarified, in what has to rank as one of the more chilling understatements in a criminal complaint, that he meant child pornography. He told agents he accessed it using Telegram, qBittorrent, and the Tor Browser on the dark web to find the pictures.
White served Pennsylvania's 46th House District from 2007 to 2015, representing parts of Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington counties, before Republican Jason Ortitay ousted him in the 2014 election. His legal career didn't survive much longer: the Pennsylvania Supreme Court disbarred him in 2017 after he raided client funds and spent the money on gambling.
That's where the story gets even more infuriating.
Just three months before FBI agents showed up at his door, a Pennsylvania disciplinary hearing committee had recommended that White be reinstated as a lawyer. The April 14 report cited glowing testimony from his therapist:
"Deeply committed to honesty, accountability, communication, emotional regulation, and responsibility within the family."
The committee reached its own conclusion:
"Fit to resume the practice of law" and "morally qualified, competent and learned in the law."
That recommendation was still pending when the FBI came knocking. The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania continues to list White as disbarred.
