It's an old saying: when someone tells you who they are, believe them. Nothing could be truer than when talking about the modern-day Democratic Party. After using minorities for decades for their votes, then ignoring them once they get elected, their lurch towards Democratic Socialism/communism has another traditionally reliable Democrat voting bloc thinking twice. The Jewish community, more specifically in Detroit, does not like what they are seeing.

The candidacy of Abdul El-Sayed for the Michigan Senate is starting to make several Detroit-area Jewish Democratic donors nervous. So much so that they have come up with a contingency plan should El-Sayed win the August 4 Democratic primary. Fundraisers are being planned for presumptive Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. Several prominent Jewish donors are planning the fundraisers, and others plan to help him outright should El-Sayed beat his primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11)."
Dennis Bernard is the national chair of government relations for the Jewish Federations of North America, a nonpartisan organization. He says that Jewish donors have made their intentions very clear, saying:
“There are leaders in our Jewish community who are longtime, lifelong Democrats and Democratic fundraisers, who are very concerned with where their party’s going. And if this is the case, they’ve made it clear, both financially and with their vote, that they would support Mike Rogers in the event El-Sayed wins the primary.”
He added:
“This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime moment where you have to become a single-issue voter. And that issue is antisemitism, our Judaism, and Israel. This is where you put party third: our people first, our country second.”
Bernard went on to say that Detroit-area Jewish Democrat donors have even approached him asking for introductions to Rogers. But lifelong political beliefs and practices die hard. Joel Tauber is 92 years old, and is a founding chair of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA). He says he would leave the line on his ballot for the Senate blank rather than vote for Abdul El-Sayed, but is unable to support a Republican, who, he says, "is so controlled by Trump.”

Neil Gorosh is a retired commercial mortgage banker and said he would go further than Tauber, saying, “If it came down to Mike Rogers and El-Sayed, I will vote for Mike Rogers. I wouldn’t write a check, but I would vote for him, and I would tell my like-minded friends to do the same.”
Abdul El-Sayed says he is not a Democratic Socialist, but he spouts a lot of Democratic Socialist rhetoric. He has questioned whether Israel should be a Jewish state, and contends that Democrats who support Israel do so because of financial reasons.

AND, I’ll post as a comment, “Jewish Democrats play a highly disproportionate, foundational role in the grassroots organization of the Democratic Party,” especially in swing states. But I’m sure you guys are gonna be awesome without us."
As the Democratic Party slides further towards socialism and outright antisemitism, Republicans have wondered for years when Jewish voters would see Democrats for who they are. That realization, at least in Michigan, may finally be happening.
