It's pretty safe to say at this point that Democrats want as many illegal immigrants to enter the country as possible because they believe they will eventually become loyal Democrat voters. So it's no surprise that they have complete disdain for agencies like Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who are trying to remove those potential Democrat voters. And as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) demonstrated, they don't care who knows it.

According to Breitbart Texas, during a late-night Senate debate on funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ending the partial government shutdown that, yes, is still going on, Schumer said this:
“America is crying out for relief from high costs, and you’re here adding $140 billion to an agency that nobody — two groups — Border Patrol and ICE, that nobody respects in this country."

In addition to President Trump taking to Truth Social and demanding Schumer apologize, former Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino fired back at Schumer's snarky comments, saying:
"Schumer encapsulates the left and aligns perfectly with the radicals that we have watched assaulting our federal agents daily as they try to enforce the laws that Congress has passed. He’s no different than the rioter throwing a brick at us, and he let everyone know that with this statement. Sadly, this sentiment is not just carried by Chuck Schumer. He is the party leader and speaks for nearly every Democrat. We saw it at the city and state level when we were met with violent opposition to what we were doing to reduce crime in sanctuary cities across the country.”
Before his retirement in March, Bovino led large-scale immigration operations in many cities across the U.S. He said that in his thirty-year career in law enforcement, he had never seen a political party so opposed to law enforcement. Bovino's statement echoes those of Border Czar Tom Homan, who has also said that in his 41-year career, he has never seen the kind of violence perpetrated against CBP and ICE agents.

As Homan has also previously stated, Bovino observed:
“Chuck Schumer’s words resonate with radicals on the street who are looking for approval to increase attacks on the men and women of the Border Patrol and ICE."
Chuck Schumer's foot-in-mouth disease also succeeded in ticking off The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), the union representing rank-and-file agents. They replied to Schumer's comments, saying on X:
“Extreme leftist advocate Chuck Schumer chose to attack and undermine Border Patrol agents and ICE officers—disrespecting the very people who risk their lives to protect this country. Let’s be clear. The problem isn’t the agents on the line—it’s politicians like Schumer who tear them down to appease the extreme and unhinged maniacs who hate law and order. Agents don’t make the laws—they enforce them. And they do it every day under dangerous, difficult conditions. Elected politicians in Congress like Chuck Schumer make the very laws they criticize.”

Chuck Schumer and his fellow leftists know full well that comments like these do nothing but fire up the purple hair-nose ring wing of the party, who are the usual suspects when CBP and ICE agents are attacked. Schumer may give some half-hearted apology, but his words are already out there, which is exactly what he and Democrats want.
