For many of us, scouting was a rite of passage. Back in the day, girls earned merit badges for cooking and sewing, but also for cycling and music. For boys, camping and community-oriented activities got them those coveted merit badges. Girl Scouts also had the all-important cookie sales. The point of it all was to mold young people into responsible men and women. The teaching of traditional roles for those young people might have changed a bit over the years, but like most American institutions, the woke crowd has also gotten its claws into scouting. And the results are not good.

For the past one hundred years, the U.S. military has been one of the most essential supporters of The Boy Scouts of America, now known as Scouting America. But that may be about to change. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is preparing to cut all ties between the military and Scouting America. The reason: Hegseth says that the organization has ceased to be a merit-based one, and now the goal is to "attack boy-friendly spaces."

Hegseth went on to say that "The organization once endorsed by President Theodore Roosevelt no longer supports the future of American boys." And in a draft memo to Congress, condemned Scouting for becoming "genderless," and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). He added that Scouting has gotten away from the mission to "cultivate masculine values." While still a Fox News Channel host in 2024, Hegseth stated:
The Boy Scouts has been cratering itself for quite some time. This is an institution the left didn't control. They didn't want to improve it. They wanted to destroy it or dilute it into something that stood for nothing.
So, what does ending the relationship between Scouting and the military entail? The Pentagon will no longer provide medical or logistical aid to the National Jamboree, a gathering that can bring as many as 20,000 scouts to a remote location in West Virginia that takes place every four years. Scouts will also no longer be allowed to meet at military installations. A statement from Scouting America read in part:
Scouting is and has always been a nonpartisan organization. Over more than a century, we've worked constructively with every U.S. presidential administration — Democratic and Republican — focusing on our common goal of building future leaders grounded in integrity, responsibility, and community service.
Scouting may bill itself as "nonpartisan," but both the Girl and Boy Scouts went all in on DEI and wokeism. The Girl Scouts were way ahead of the woke game and began admitting transgender girls way back in 2015. In 2018, the Boy Scouts followed suit and announced that they were changing their name to "Scouting America" and would admit girls into the organization. Thus began the participation by both organizations in the erasure of both girls' and boys' spaces.

It may take an act of God or some in-your-face biology, neither of which the Left believes in, for proof that boys and girls need their own spaces. Pete Hegseth is spot on. We've known for quite some time that the ultimate goal is to erase masculinity. What better and easier way to do it than to bring girls into a masculine space? RedState's own Managing Editor, Jen Van Laar, had this to say about how Scouting molded her sons into the men they are today,
My two oldest sons are Eagle Scouts, and their Scoutmaster was a special forces guy from Ft Bragg. In addition to all of the orienteering and survival skills they learned, in the process of becoming Eagle Scouts, they learned invaluable leadership and project management skills that serve them to this day in their professional and personal lives.
In full disclosure, as a former Girl Scout, I cannot imagine those weekend camping trips including boys. They were a giant slumber party. A place where we could talk about things that, newsflash for the Left, only happen to girls. How we were navigating those things, and how we felt about them. And since we all went to school together, those trips also included extended chats about the cute boys. That bonding doesn't happen if the boys are within earshot. Those trips also taught us lifelong lessons like leadership and teamwork.
As many as 20 percent of cadets and midshipmen at America's service academies are Eagle Scouts. Enlistees who are Eagle Scouts get an advanced rank and better pay. If the move goes forward, that will also end. Like everything else the left gets its hands on, Scouting is well on its way to ruin.
Boy Scouts has become a mess. We don't even have them in our county anymore due to all the nonsense. They let the weirdos participate and then they took over just like everywhere else they demand acceptance.
