Since President Donald Trump was reelected in November of 2024, Democrats and the Left have only become more volatile and unhinged. Their violent rhetoric has increased, and in many cases, spawned violent events. But the September 10 murder in broad daylight of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk changed everything for those speaking out and spreading the conservative message. Recently, a conservative speaker on a college campus tried to relay that message in what some believed to be a pretty brutal fashion. But now those who invited him, and their reaction to his speech, are catching some heat.
Cowardice and disloyalty will not be tolerated. If the Boston College “Republican” President doesn’t resign, CRA will disaffiliate.

It would be a shame to lose a flagship chapter, but it’s been taken over by the opposition. The members need to remove Jake Wiepert. Now. https://t.co/hnC1HRJ6KE
The Young Republicans chapter at Boston College invited conservative podcaster Nick Solheim to speak at their October 20 meeting. During his speech, Solheim explained how young many of the nation's Founding Fathers were. He also stated another fact: that had Americans lost the Revolutionary War, those founders would have been very publicly hanged by the British as traitors to the Crown. Solheim then said this:
"I want to start with a much more important and heavy exhortation: You need to be willing to be killed."

Solheim's meaning: The Left is completely unhinged. Nothing is off the table for them, as we saw, sadly, with Charlie Kirk, and much of their rhetoric we have heard since is openly advocating for the death of conservatives. Are you willing to be killed for your beliefs? Yeah, pretty heavy stuff indeed. Solheim then went on to condemn political violence, saying, “We don’t assassinate, attack indiscriminately, or violate our enemy.” But his premise appeared to be too much for the chapter's executive board. In what could be described as a massive overreaction to Solheim's speech, the chapter's executive board, days later, issued a statement saying:
“Mr. Solheim’s views and rhetoric were unprecedented and unrepresentative of the views of our club members, and we do not endorse any of these views. We uphold the notion of civil discourse and believe that there is always a time for respectful discussion, even with those who do not agree with us.”
The executive board also went on to add that they had "mistakenly" not registered the event with the University. Oops, sorry, totally our fault. However, the chapter gained a bigger problem in the form of College Republicans of America (CRA) founder and chairman William Branson Donahue, who was fully supportive of Solheim's remarks. So supportive in fact, that he called for chapter president Jake Wiepert to resign or be removed, saying:
“Cowardice and disloyalty will not be tolerated. If the Boston College ‘Republican’ President doesn’t resign, CRA will disaffiliate. It would be a shame to lose a flagship chapter, but it’s been taken over by the opposition. The members need to remove Jake Wiepert. Now.”
If Donahue meant that the chapter had been taken over by opposition in the form of squishy young Republicans, he would be right. But the university chapter wasn't done in their squishiness quite yet. A few days after the meeting at which Solheim spoke, the Boston College Young Republicans privately invited Democrat Rep. Jake Auchincloss (MA-4) to speak to the group. Auchincloss's voting history includes a vote to impeach Donald Trump and voting against the One Big Beautiful Bill several times.
The future won’t belong to soft men chasing comfort. It will belong to those who risk safety to defend their homeland, their families, and their faith. @NickSSolheim is right, and he’s a patriot for saying so. https://t.co/Y2nd44Sl7G

Solheim also got some pretty hefty defense from none other than Heritage Foundation President, Kevin Roberts, who tweeted out:
The future won’t belong to soft men chasing comfort. It will belong to those who risk safety to defend their homeland, their families, and their faith. @NickSSolheimis right, and he’s a patriot for saying so.

So, what has the Young Republicans of Boston College so spooked? Sure, they are a conservative group at an East Coast liberal college, so they might expect a little unwarranted hostility from the campus Left regarding guest speakers. Were they trying to get in front of it just in case? Could they be feeling uncomfortable over a series of recently leaked Young Republican chat threads that contained some horrific racist, antisemitic, and misogynistic language? Maybe, but wouldn't that be Donahue's worry? Surely the chapter did their homework on Solheim, who he was, and what beliefs he espoused. Why the complete overreaction to a speech that, quite frankly, contained a whole lot of truth? And why follow his event up with a Democrat representative as a guest speaker?
You have to wonder, have the Boston College Republicans been paying any attention at all to the increasingly hostile political climate for conservatives? They only had to look at the violent displays that took place at the No Kings rallies to see that Nick Solheim is correct in much of what he said in his speech. The Young Republicans' lesson: When people, especially the Left, show you who they are, believe them.

I've been disavowed by the Boston College Republicans chapter for a speech I gave last week.

I paid my own way in the hopes of recruiting more BC grads to participate in @AmericanMoment's programs.
You can be controversial or you can be a coward. Below is the infamous speech. https://t.co/jo37NZ3lxg
Editor's Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
