For conservatives, the latest antics in America's most left-wing city, Seattle, are pure entertainment. There is really nothing that could surprise us, short of a Republican mayor or governor of Washington being elected. And when it comes to the "rights" of illegal immigrants, there are not many places in America that champion them more than the Emerald City. While there have been some isolated cases of illegal immigrants getting jobs in law enforcement, Seattle's latest move, and their insistence on defending it to the end, is truly a commitment to liberal buffoonery.

Recently, the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) has acknowledged that not only have they hired almost three dozen illegal immigrants as corrections officers, but say they will fight state law, which prohibits their hiring. The department stated to conservative radio show host Jason Rantz's show:
"All are fully trained as corrections officers and authorized to work in the United States. King County is committed to safety and the fair treatment of these officers and continues to work closely with the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC). We are keeping all available avenues of relief open at this time."
The department's alleged hiring of illegal immigrants was revealed by a whistleblower who filed a complaint, stating that as many as 100 illegal immigrants may have been hired. That is a direct violation of the Revised Code of Washington 43.101.095, which states that only legal U.S. citizens can be hired as corrections officers. State law also does not allow jails to hire "lawful permanent residents," or those covered under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program begun under the Obama administration.

The DAJD is brushing it off as just one big clerical error. They do admit to hiring roughly 38 illegal immigrants, but say they were “incorrectly certified as meeting the conditions of RCW 43.101.095(2)(b)(v)." But the best part? They are refusing to fire the illegal immigrant employees. They claim it was all just one big bit of oversight on their part, and are digging in, saying the illegal immigrant jailers are staying put.
In another statement, DAJD stated:
“To ensure the integrity of jail operations and the safety of our staff and those in our custody, most of the officers continue to work their assigned shifts while we have ongoing conversations with the CJTC about next steps. All officers who continue to perform duties have completed full training through the CJTC.”
While rules and laws usually are not an issue for leftists, in this case, the department is allegedly working with the Washington State Attorney General's office to change hiring laws so it can retroactively approve the hiring of illegal immigrants. It is also unknown just how many illegal immigrants are actually employed with the department, as they will not divulge those numbers publicly.
The good people of Seattle are not the first to hire illegal immigrants in law enforcement. In July, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Maine arrested an illegal immigrant from Jamaica after he unlawfully attempted to purchase a firearm. At the time of his arrest, Jon Luke Evans was working as a reserve police officer with the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.

Democrats and the Left have all but admitted that the reason for the Biden administration's mass influx of illegal immigrants was to import a new crop of potential future Democrat voters. Back in Seattle, the fact that the DAJD appears ready to fight the state to the bitter end to keep their illegal immigrant employees only seems to verify that. It's just one more abnormal thing that the Left is intent on normalizing.
People who should not be in the country in the first place are guarding actual citizens, but Democrats can't figure out why they continue to lose elections.
