Delicious: NPR Quietly Forced to Report Major Restaurant Chain Is Ending Egg Surcharge for Customers

The cost of eggs has dropped precipitously in the short time since President Trump took office, something that many Americans have felt in their pocketbooks in recent weeks. And since egg products are included when economists consider the benchmark costs everyone is burdened with every day - it will likely be reflected in the next monthly report from the Labor Department, if it hasn't already.

Frankly, the country is on something of a yuge winning streak, as my colleague Bob Hoge wrote on Friday, including on the economy and despite any concern-trolling about tariffs. Check out the decline of egg prices:

Democrats and the fake media have been predicting rampant inflation, economic disaster, and just about everything else they can think of due to Trump’s tariffs and other policies. Guess what? It hasn’t happened.

Hoge added that, ho-hum, "the S&P 500 stock index recently hit an all-time high" of  6,156. That's up more than 20 percent since April, according to analysts.

There's a new and delicious story I happened to see quietly published this week, on--of all places--National Public Radio's homepage. After months of fretting that Trump was going to tank the U.S. economy with high inflation due to tariff fears, you gotta love the fact that a Democrat Party media organ like this is forced to report on positive results happening.

One of the nation's major restaurant chains, Waffle House, announced this week it is dropping the eggs surcharge (which was in place since Feb.) for customers, since the price of eggs has fallen:

In a welcome sign that sky-high egg prices are coming home to roost, Waffle House is dropping its 50 cent per egg surcharge.

...

Waffle House had added the surcharge in February as an outbreak of avian flu forced the culling of tens of millions of egg-laying chickens, sending prices to record highs. Since then, both wholesale and retail prices have begun to normalize, although retail egg prices in May were still up more than 40% from a year ago.

As I wrote around the time of this year's Super Bowl, the high cost of chicken for party wings was reportedly also at risk of biting into American consumers' budgets--and naturally, the AP stated it was all Trump's fault. Nowhere in their reporting was there a mention of "the mass culling of poultry due to bird flu concerns pushing up those prices--a sign of total journalistic malpractice." Yet, NPR can mention it now, only choosing not to give any kudos to the current USDA.

Back to the egg story. The outlet does share a quote from USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, who said in a late June statement:

"Families are seeing relief with egg prices driving food deflation. We must remain diligent, and egg farmers and producers can continue to utilize USDA resources to conduct biosecurity assessments."

Waffle House isn't the only major restaurant to stop adding the fee to bills, either, NPR reported. Denny's also dropped their surcharge back in the spring.

Now, we alI know it's too much to expect the legacy media to make anything close to an apology for the fake news it has tried to spread or give even a sliver of credit to the Trump administration for the economic rebound. It's enough, probably, that we know that they know. As my colleague Ward Clark said in his piece earlier on Saturday about former Bill Clinton campaign guru, James Carville, the Left should know well what "things are gonna matter to people." And since it is still the weekend, here's the mot juste from the man himself (and wow, Carville looks so young here!):
