Think you had some bad substitute teachers? If allegations are correct (and that’s always a considerable “if”), they likely weren’t nearly as terrible as Tiffani Shadell Lankford.
The 32-year-old sub for Hays Consolidated Independent School District appears to have brutally — I’ll say it twice: brutally — beaten a 15-year-old female student at Lehman High School in Texas.
[A] video shows Tiffani Shadell Lankford…approaching the…sophomore girl and then punching the student in the face. The substitute then continues hitting the student as others look on in shock.
As per a statement to parents by Principal Karen Zuniga, Tiffani’s been swiftly fired:
“As a family, we share both the good news and bad news together. Today, I have to tell you about an incident that is disconcerting.
“This afternoon, we fired one of our guest teachers for hitting and fighting with a student. Under no circumstance is that behavior tolerated at Lehman High School or in Hays CISD. Additionally, the former employee was arrested by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and faces potential criminal charges. Her actions will also be reported to the Texas Education Agency.
“We take the safety and security of our students seriously. We took swift action when this incident occurred and will do everything necessary to protect our students.”
Here’s the stunningly violent video:

How in the world did such a person ever get hired?
Notice her stomping of the teen’s head or neck at the end.
According to New York Times reporter Neil Vigdor, here’s Tiffani’s photo:

Principal Karen provided further comment to KXAN:
“Under no circumstance is that behavior tolerated at Lehman High School or in Hays CISD. We take the safety and security of our students seriously. We took swift action when this incident occurred and will do everything necessary to protect our students.”
As relayed by Austin’s CBS affiliate, the student’s father took her to a hospital for care:
The victim was taken to a local hospital by her father for evaluation. Lankford was transported to the Hays County Jail. The sheriff’s office said the victim is 15 years old. But a statement by the district says she is a 16-year-old sophomore.
Unsurprisingly, clips of the incident got posted to social media by students:
Tiffani — who was arrested and delivered to Hays County Jail Friday afternoon — had only worked for Hays CISD since August 30th.
As reported by KVUE in Austin, she’d taken her first assignment for the district on September 13th.
Friday was her 18th time working in its employ.
In a post to Facebook, Hays CISD Chief Communications Officer Tim Savoy said there was no excuse for what occurred:
“There is absolutely no excuse or circumstance that can justify what you see unfold on the video. It is unconscionable what this adult did to one of our students.”
Tiffani was charged with aggravated assault, which is a second-degree felony.
The world is a dangerous place, and there are monsters among us.
But those chosen to look after America’s kids should be selected titanically carefully. As many on the Left have asserted, school should be one place where everyone is safe.
Thanks to the confines of a jail cell — and the video that helped secure it — now they’re a whole lot more so at Lehman High.
