There's an ancient piece of wisdom: Never pick a fight with an Irishman.
During the "Troubles" in British-held Northern Ireland from the early 1960s to the late 1990s, the various Irish militias, like the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) and the Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA) earned the reluctant respect of the British Army for their canniness, their fortitude, and their determination.
Now, though, the government of the Republic of Ireland (as opposed to British-held Northern Ireland) is inexplicably allowing in wave after wave of "migrants" from the Middle East and North Africa, and now a new group, a new Irish Republican Army, is threatening to drive all of these "migrants" out of Ireland.
Republican terrorists are plotting a campaign of violence to force migrants out of Ireland, intelligence officials have told The Mail on Sunday.
The plan by the New IRA – the successor organisation to the Real IRA – comes in the wake of the disturbances on the streets of Northern Ireland in June following the stabbing of Stephen Ogilvie, allegedly by Hadi Alodid, a 30-year-old Sudanese asylum-seeker.
Security sources say that the dissident republicans, who continue to fight for a ‘united Ireland’, are feeding off local community tensions on both sides of the border over a spike in cases of harassment, sexual assault and violence, which has been blamed on migrants.
This may cause a sort of re-migration, into British-controlled Northern Ireland. And this New IRA isn't kidding around.
In a video posted last week on a far-Right social media platform, an unidentified man warned that the IRA would threaten migrants with violence if they did not leave Ireland. ‘They will take control, and they will give an ultimatum, not to politicians but to the illegal migrants who are in the country,’ he says.
Claiming that the British Army ‘respected’ the IRA during the Troubles for their professionalism and efficiency, the man adds: ‘It is now going to be time for civil war, and that is exactly what these guys are going to be doing – and can you blame them? This will be a major wake-up call for the authorities. These guys will show them how it’s done and give them 24 hours to leave.’
Mind you, this is the British Daily Mail describing a "far-Right social media platform," which they leave nameless. Mitt Romney would probably be considered "far-Right" by the British press, so, there's that.
These reports would seem to indicate that there is a very real possibility of open civil war in Ireland. There have been murmurings of this ever since the Irish government inexplicably threw open the gates to all and sundry and started housing and feeding "migrants" at the expense of the Irish taxpayers. It may not stop there, either. The New IRA has, according to some reports, formed tentative alliances with similar militia groups in Scotland.
My wife and I had the chance to visit Ireland once, in 2020, just before the COVID panic. We spent most of our time in Dublin, which was only those few years ago a very pleasant place. We found the people there to be warm and friendly, and the pubs, well, that was just a lot of fun. The "migrants" weren't much in evidence then, but we are given to understand it's very different now. Some pushback was inevitable, and now there are signs that this pushback may well get very vigorous indeed.
Things may be about to get very spicy on the Emerald Isle. Stay tuned.
