On Sunday, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) took emergency action and scrambled F-16 fighter jets to intercept two general aviation aircraft over Bedminster, New Jersey, after those aircraft entered restricted airspace. This is the location of one of President Trump's golf clubs, where he has been expected to be visiting.

The NORAD fighters escorted the aircraft out of the restricted area.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said its F-16 fighter jets intercepted multiple general aviation aircraft over Bedminster, New Jersey, on Sunday after the planes reportedly violated temporary flight restrictions in the area.

The 1st Air Force’s Air Forces Northern clarified that two aircraft were involved in the incident.

The general aviation aircraft were safely escorted out of the restricted area by NORAD aircraft, officials said.

The temporary flight restrictions were in place over the Bedminster area, where President Trump was expected to spend time at his golf club.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) noted two temporary flight restrictions (TFR) for Bedminster, both of type "VIP," both from Friday, August 7th through Sunday, August 9th. There are two restrictions as well for Morristown, New Jersey, also type VIP, on Sunday, August 9th.

As of this writing there has been no information released as to the types of civil aviation aircraft involved or the identities of anyone in those aircraft. It appears the aircraft left the restricted airspace without incident, and there's no indication of any further action by NORAD or civil authorities - at least, not yet.

President Trump was indeed at the Trump National Bedminster golf course on Sunday morning, taking part in an event there.

President Donald Trump and PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan were together before the final round of LIV Golf’s event at Trump National Bedminster on Sunday. They stood side-by-side in the player dining room, as Trump extolled the playing accomplishments of legend Gary Player, who was also in the room.

Bubba Watson’s caddie, Gabe Sauer, published the video to his Instagram story. As Trump exited the clubhouse and was photographed by wire services, Al-Rumayyan was in the background.

It's unclear if the airspace restriction violation took place while President Trump was at the club.

This is a developing story. We'll update you when and if events unfold.
