CA Gubernatorial Hopeful Xavier Becerra Has Jaw-Dropping Take on Illegal Alien Street Vendors

Just when you think politics has hit peak stupid, a higher level of stupid comes on in and shatters previous expectations. The latest is in the presumed front-runner in the ongoing race to be the next governor of California, Xavier Becerra, advising people that for the "real thing" in tacos, you have to go to a street vendor - possibly unlicensed, possibly not compliant with food handling codes, but hey, it's the "real thing."

Want to know what else is the real thing? Ptomaine. Salmonella. Listeria.

OK, now, fortunately for the health and well-being of California taco fans, enter Spencer Pratt, who adroitly defenestrated Mr. Becerra.

Ever had food poisoning? I have.

If you ate something bad for supper, you'll wake up in the middle of the night and rush to the bathroom, where you will violently expel large amounts of liquid and other materials from both ends of your alimentary canal - that being your mouth, and your... other end. This will go on until you have nothing left to expel, leaving you weak, shaky, possibly unable to stand. You clean up as best you can, and crawl back into bed. Then the flop-sweats hit; you will now pour fluid, sweat, from your skin. Your sheets will be soaked, but you'll be too exhausted to move. Then the fever and chills hit, leaving you alternately shivering and suffering hot flashes. Stomach cramps will hit you, forcing you into the fetal position in your sweat-soaked bed linens. After a half-hour, maybe an hour, if you're lucky, you'll be back in the bathroom. At your first trip to the nausea and diarrhea affair, you would have sworn your entire digestive system was empty, but now you'll learn it wasn't.

This cycle will repeat. Maybe for a day. Maybe two. You'll try to take in some liquids, but they won't stay down. If you're lucky, you'll have someone around to tend you. If not... Well, this kind of thing can be no-kidding life-threatening. And the guy who may well be the next governor of California thinks you should get "the real thing" from a street taco truck. Yeah, you'll get the real thing, all right.

Spencer Pratt is (again) absolutely correct. For any political figure to say something like this is irresponsible at best; more to the point, this kind of rhetoric is endangering the health of the general public. Especially when you consider that the target audience he's trying to reach, the "woke" left, isn't known for their cold analysis of fact; if a leftist Democrat politician says something, they take it as the unquestionable, unvarnished truth, and act accordingly. Even if the truth they end up with is Salmonella.

This would be funny, if only it weren't such a serious danger. But that's the left for you.
