Could this be the moment when Charlie Brown finally kicks that football?
On Saturday, President Trump took to his Truth Social account to proclaim that a peace deal with Iran will be signed on Sunday.

The president writes (paragraph breaks added):
Barack Hussein Obama’s Deal with Iran, the JCPOA, was an easy, beautiful, smooth road to a Nuclear Weapon, which Iran would have had six years ago, and would have used long before now. My Agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON! In fact, they no longer want a Nuclear Weapon, nor will they have one, either through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement.
The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL. Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous Administrations have had. Unlike Obama’s Hundreds of Billions of Dollars in payments to them, including 1.7 Billion Dollars in green, cold cash, no money will exchange hands.
At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust, buried deep under the powerful sunken granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 Bombers and their brilliant pilots, and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States. We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future. Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again! Thank you for your attention to this matter!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP
We've seen talk of peace deals before, but this would seem to be the first time that President Trump has indicated a signing within the next day, which begs the question: Where? Will President Trump be embarking on Air Force One later on Saturday to fly to Pakistan, which nation has been acting as an intermediary? Also, who from Iran will be signing, and under what authority? We might remember that Iran's leadership, or what's left of it, is somewhat fragmented at the moment.

The president does proclaim two of the key goals for which his administration has been holding out: The surrender of what's left of Iran's nuclear material, and an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz. And, if this does happen, if a peace deal is signed, it will be roundly interesting to see who in Iran will be tasked with keeping that nation's part of the bargain, and how much resistance from within they will face.
One key presumption that the Trump administration would do well to keep in mind, as I've been saying and writing all along, is that these people can't be trusted. The mullahs can't be trusted, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps can't be trusted, and what remains of Iran's civil government can't be trusted.
On Sunday, we should know more. Stay tuned.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
