Has the Earth just flipped on its axis or something? On the list of things I didn't expect to see today, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz reportedly making a conciliatory phone call to President Trump, and President Trump openly praising the Minnesota governor on the content of that call, well, that wasn't even within a light-year of that list.
Nevertheless, here we are. President Trump took to his Truth Social account on Monday morning to describe the call in positive terms - and note that Governor Walz called him, not the other way around.

The post reads:
Governor Tim Walz called me with the request to work together with respect to Minnesota. It was a very good call, and we, actually, seemed to be on a similar wavelength. I told Governor Walz that I would have Tom Homan call him, and that what we are looking for are any and all Criminals that they have in their possession. The Governor, very respectfully, understood that, and I will be speaking to him in the near future. He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota, and so am I! We have had such tremendous SUCCESS in Washington, D.C., Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and virtually every other place that we have “touched” and, even in Minnesota, Crime is way down, but both Governor Walz and I want to make it better!
There is, as yet, no comment on this coming out of St. Paul.

If this is accurate, it carries a number of implications, chief among them being this: Is Governor Walz fearing the outcome of some of these fraud investigations? The honest answer to that right now is "we don't know," but there's an awful lot of smoke for there not to be a fire there somewhere, and even if Governor Walz isn't directly implicated, a lot of people who work for him might be. And, as Governor, well, he's the guy whose name is on the blame line for some of the most massive fraud schemes ever undertaken.
And there's this: "He was happy that Tom Homan was going to Minnesota." There are few people with as much dogged determination to get illegal aliens deported as Tom Homan. That makes this an interesting statement indeed, when President Trump is sending his primary illegal alien problem-solver to the scene.
So why the change of heart on the part of Minnesota's governor? It could be that he's feeling some heat from outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, as well. He is, supposedly, the governor of all of Minnesota, not just the city, and most of Minnesota probably isn't too happy about the parade of nitwittery coming out of that city.
President Trump seems to have a pretty good handle on the primary role of government: To protect the liberty and property of the people. Maybe Governor Walz is about to get a Trump-style lesson in that principle.
All this is speculation, of course. This is one phone call. We haven't yet heard anything from St. Paul about this. We haven't had any news of any follow-up conversations. But it's an interesting turn, and when we know more, why, so will you.
