Vice President JD Vance appeared on Breitbart News to talk about plans for a bipartisan effort to fix America's healthcare finance system. While the proper steps to bring this under control, it seems, are to be hashed out between political parties in Congress and the Trump administration in the coming weeks, what's startling about the vice president's comments is how swiftly the Democrats return to form. Namely, demanding a major overhaul of America's healthcare system in three days, and when they didn't get that, like petulant children, they shut down the government.
BREAKING: @jdvance reveals Trump offered to work on fixing Obamacare with Democrat leaders Schumer & Jeffries before the shutdown. They were "caught off guard" by that answer, and their demand to prevent the shutdown was to fix the whole system in just 3 days:

The post continues:
"They said, 'We really want to address the healthcare problem confronting the American people.' The president said, 'Well, absolutely. We agree, we want to address the healthcare problem confronting the American people. In fact, you people screwed it up with Obamacare, the Unaffordable Care Act, and now you're coming to us saying, let's fix it. Great! Let's fix it.'
And then they said, I think they were kind of caught off guard, and they're like, 'Well, but we want the fix before we, before we're willing to open up the government.' And the president was like, 'That's like 3 days from now. You want us to fix American healthcare in the next 3 days, and unless you do it, you're gonna shut down the government? How about we open up the government and then work together to fix American healthcare?'
And, of course, we know the history. They rejected it. They shut down the government."
That's downright shameful, is what that is.
It would probably be the best move to see less, not more, government involvement in healthcare financing, but honestly, that's probably not going to happen. Whatever comes out of all this will mean more, not less, involvement by the federal government. But that's a discussion for another post.
No, the really frustrating part of this is the Democrats' willingness to just jam through some other harebrained idea to "fix" healthcare in the United States in three freaking days. That's not just irresponsible, it's a serious malpractice in government. Fortunately, the GOP stopped this stupid idea from seeing the light of day, but it did lead to the longest shutdown of the federal government in the history of the republic.
It's not yet certain what Democrats may have had in mind other than their demand for an extension of COVID-era Obamacare subsidies, with the COVID debacle years in the past. But whatever it was, with three days to debate, to analyze, whatever they put forth would have been a giant cluster foul-up, just like Obamacare.
Democrats are notorious for this. They foment a crisis, then try to act on it, and that act usually consists of them claiming "We have to do something," pointing at their latest harebrained, socialist scheme, and shouting "This is something! Let's do this!"
This time, at least, we prevented it. But the cost was the longest government shutdown in our history.
Editor's Note: President Trump is leading America into the "Golden Age" as Democrats try desperately to stop it.
