There's clueless, then there's abysmally clueless. Then, somewhere beneath that, there's New York's own, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), or AOC.
In her most recent eye-roller, AOC is bragging about the new trash cans she caused to be placed along the "Avenue of Sweethearts" - Roosevelt Avenue, in Queens, still the greatest place for one-stop shopping for prostitution, drugs, and gangs, as the NY Post reported exclusively. Oh, she got the trash cans, but the trash remains.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trumpeted on social media how she successfully pushed to have dozens of new trash cans placed on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens.
Problem is, she ignored the real trash.
She was immediately mocked for ignoring the parade of johns, pimps and prostitutes flooding the avenue’s infamous “Market of Sweethearts.”
“Celebrating garbage cans is like putting sprinkles on s–t and calling it a birthday cake,” lambasted Elmhurst’s Ramses Frias, who’s running as a Republican candidate for City Council in Queens’ 25th District. “It’s all for show.”
“Of course, AOC won’t speak about what’s really happening here so she can keep up the facade that her district is amazing and a paradise.”
Following AOC's shenanigans presents a very real danger that one may find oneself facepalming so hard and so repeatedly that it sounds like a standing ovation at the Royal Albert Hall. This woman has no sense of optics at all. While we must admit, this kind of local law enforcement isn't a congressional responsibility, a congressman still has a strong voice in their district.
Queens residents are looking everywhere they can for help with these problems, since they're getting nothing but empty trash cans from their Congresswoman.
Queens residents, merchants and civic leaders have repeatedly blasted AOC for being missing in action in the fight to clean up the red-light district.
Locals along the Roosevelt Avenue corridor have begged for help with the plagues of prostitution and illegal street vendors — fueled in part by gangs who got a foothold in the area due to the city’s migrant crisis.
They even recently urged the FBI to look into the Market of Sweethearts’ alleged links to organized crime.
Now this is a district that could profit from some ICE agents and a company or two of National Guard troops.
While her constituents are struggling with rampant crime, AOC is attending Met galas (for which she's taking some ethical heat) and going on the modern version of a whistle-stop campaign with the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), to promote socialism. What a joke.

As I've always said and always will, government really only has one legitimate role: to protect the liberty and property of the citizenry. In that, AOC, as well as the city, county, and state of New York, have utterly failed. The regular residents and business owners on Roosevelt Avenue are running out of options, and their representative in the House is so disconnected that she may as well be in a different solar system.
And to think, some Democrats are touting AOC as their great shining hope to win the presidency in 2028. To that, all I can say is that Republicans should be hitting their knees every morning and evening, begging for the Democrats to be so foolish as to nominate this nitwit.
