JD Vance on Kamala Harris: 'Every Time' She Does an Interview, 'I Think We Pick Up 100,000 Votes'

One benchmark I've always applied in judging a public figure's intelligence is their ability to speak extemporaneously. Ronald Reagan was good at it, as was Bill Clinton. George W. Bush was only fair, and off of the teleprompter, Barack Obama was pretty bad. Joe Biden never was any good at it, even before he went senile.

Kamala Harris, when she attempts to speak, is an absolute train wreck. Her word salads are legendary; her delivery is stilted and awful, interspersed with her annoying, nervous cackle. She attempts to come across as smart and well-informed but ends up sounding about as thoughtful as a plate of beans negotiating their way out of someone's digestive tract.

JD Vance knows this. On Saturday, at a rally in Pennsylvania, the Republican vice presidential candidate claimed that the Trump campaign is hoping that Harris tries to speak more often, observing that they pick up votes every time Kamala bombs a speech or interview:

Kamala Harris is serving up so much “word salad” during her rare media interviews according to Republican veep candidate J.D. Vance, that the Trump campaign is openly rooting for her to do more.

“Every time she does [an interview], I think we pick up 100,000 votes,” quipped during a rally on Saturday in Leesport, Pa., when asked about Harris avoiding media interviews.

Harris’ latest public-speaking debacle came Thursday during a star-studded virtual rally hosted by Oprah Winfrey.

She ended with a two-minute monologue that confused many people listening — including Winfrey, according to online commentators who said the powerful media mogul looked “lost” and “unimpressed.”

Here's her latest jumbled-up mess:

“We love our country. I love our country. I know we all do, that’s why everybody’s here right now. We love our country. We– we take pride in the privilege of being American and this is a moment where we can and must come together as Americans, understanding we have so much more in common than what separates us,” Harris said with pauses and smiles.

Content-wise, that's a whole lot of nothing. Oh, sure, we love our country - I know I do - but that doesn't bear repeating three times in one paragraph. The balance of that statement reads like an eighth-grader trying to pad the word count on a book report to make a passing grade.

She's just no good at this.

Kamala Harris, as a speaker, just isn't there, but this brings up questions that are much more concerning than just her legendary, content-free word salads. Her horrible speaking skills leave one with the distinct impression of someone indecisive, ill-informed, lacking in confidence, and, to be perfectly blunt, not very bright. Imagine her at a NATO summit, where she would be expected to discuss issues of great portent. Imagine her trying to negotiate with Tsar Vladimir I, Chairman Xi, or that twisted little gargoyle with bad hair who runs North Korea.

Imagine her trying to deal with the mullahs of Iran - or with the Taliban. It's damn near inconceivable, isn't it? Any of those bad actors would walk all over Kamala Harris. She's not in the intellectual league of any other world leader, even Kim Jong Un, and every time she opens her mouth, that becomes more and more apparent. She's just not fit for the office; at least as vice president she was essentially a spare part, held in reserve for when Joe Biden finally stroked out, and as such, she's never had to do anything that really mattered. When she was assigned anything of any consequence, like being border czar, she made a complete dog's breakfast of it.

JD Vance may well be right. Every time she attempts to speak, the Trump/Vance campaign gains votes - and we can hope that trend continues until Election Day.
