It's been speculated for a while now that Donald Trump would make an appearance on Joe Rogan's top-rated podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience," and now it's apparently been confirmed by a source familiar with the plans that the interview will take place this Friday, October 25. Per Politico:

Former President Donald Trump is expected to record an interview with podcasting behemoth Joe Rogan on Friday.

The interview will take place at Rogan’s studio in Austin, Texas, according to a person familiar with the plans who was granted anonymity to discuss the matter.

It's the interview MAGA has been waiting for: Trump in a long-form discussion with Rogan, who's been openly flirting with conservatism and MAGA-esque ideals for a while now. Rogan's shows are known to go on for several hours, a format that is tailor-made for Trump, who has proven he can talk at length – and with good humor – on a variety of topics. Rogan regularly sits atop the podcast charts, and this episode is likely to break records.

Here's how one online podcast ranker described The Joe Rogan Experience:

Up first is The Joe Rogan Experience, the most listened-to podcast in the US, which is estimated to bring in 11 million listeners per episode. The show has become a cultural phenomenon and is credited with popularizing long-form podcasts (episodes range between two and four hours long.)

Trump has proven to be a hit on podcasts with large male audiences, such as Last Weekend with Theo Von and Flagrant, which is hosted by the comedian Andrew Schulz. If you haven't seen clips from that show, it's pretty great. Trump had Schulz and Schulz's co-hosts busting up with laughter over the former president's comments about Joe Biden on the beach. If you need a good laugh, here's the clip.

Trump and Rogan have met previously but haven't always been on the same page. According to one report, "Trump has never appeared on Rogan’s podcast and the two have had a complicated relationship. In August, Trump called out Rogan after the podcaster claimed that politicians on both sides are manipulative except for Robert Kennedy Jr., who at the time was running for president." Here's Trump:

"It will be interesting to see how loudly Joe Rogan gets BOOED the next time he enters the UFC Ring??? MAGA2024" Trump posted of Rogan, who is a UFC commentator.

It will also be interesting to see if the topic of COVID comes up during the interview. Rogan took a lot of heat from the media overlords for being openly against the vaccine, then promoting Ivermectin as a treatment when he contracted the Wu-Flu. There were a lot of snotty "Ew! He's taking a horse dewormer!" comments thrown at him, but he bounced right back after taking Ivermectin along with a host of vitamins that were part of the protocol favored by the vax skeptics. Trump, of course, was president during those early COVID days and also took heat for his efforts to shepherd the country through the pandemic.

Reactions to the announcement were exactly what you'd expect.

There have been murmurs that Kamala Harris is in talks to also appear on Rogan's show, but it's hard to imagine she'd thrive in a long-form discussion when she still can't even answer if she'd do anything different from Joe Biden. This seems accurate:

Rogan's audience is vast, and so is Donald Trump's ability to talk about anything and everything. It's a win for Trump, and will further contrast his canny media chops with Kamala Harris' inarticulate and joyless persona.
