Amidst the chaos unfolding in Minneapolis over anti-ICE protests, now there's an added wrinkle for federal agents to contend with: a paucity of available lodging.
According to a new report from Fox News' Bill Melugin, at least two downtown Minneapolis hotels have notified multiple ICE agents that rooms they've already booked are no longer available:
NEW: I’m told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close “due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul.”

I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels.
I'm told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents.

Now, at first blush, the decision by these hotels to close temporarily might arguably be understandable from a safety/security standpoint, given the current atmosphere in Minneapolis. However, as Melugin notes, per NewsNation's Ali Bradley, there's some indication that ICE agents' reservations are receiving different treatment from regular guests.

I called the hotel and they are indeed closing today.
Sources tell me government employees had to leave by noon today, but other guests were allowed to stay through their reservation.
It is a franchised owned by SP Hotels—I have reached out to the company and Hilton as well. I have not heard back.
Either way, it calls to mind the recent incident involving another Minneapolis-area hotel (and now former Hilton franchisee), which we brought to you two weeks ago.

Again, while the hotels may well have legitimate safety/security concerns given the events unfolding, it appears that concessions are being made to the mob at the expense of lawful immigration enforcement. That's bad for business, bad for Minneapolis, and bad for law and order. It's unfortunate that city and state "leadership" have opted to give in to and further encourage the mob rather than cooperate with federal law enforcement partners.
