The GOP needs to leave no stone unturned in the states they control. If that means mid-decade redistricting, then so be it.

As things currently stand, I'm not sure I'd trust any Sig Sauer product at the moment, in part because I know if there's something wrong with it, they're unlikely to accept that there's a problem in the first place.

The Kamala Harris-ing of Gavin Newsom Is Underway

Obviously, the longer that Newsom, the MSM hacks, and the power players at the Democratic National Committee believe this tortured political fairy tale, the better it is for the Republicans. Regular Americans aren't very caught up in the Democrats' non-reality campaigns.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

The Senate managed to clear the procedural hurdles on the rescissions package of $9 billion in recommended DOGE cuts on Tuesday evening, with back-to-back 51-50 votes (with Vice President JD Vance serving as the tiebreaker) that cleared the way for debate. A "vote-a-rama" will take place beginning at 1:30 PM Eastern, teeing up a vote later tonight. Assuming it passes, it goes back to the House for final approval before the midnight Friday deadline.

Meanwhile, the House will take another pass at the GENIUS Act following a come-to-Jesus meeting between GOP holdouts and President Donald Trump on Tuesday evening.

  • House Homeland Security — “An Inside Job: How NGOs Facilitated the Biden Border Crisis” [This one should be quite interesting]
  • House Judiciary, Crime and Federal Government Surveillance Subcommittee — “Artificial Intelligence and Criminal Exploitation: A New Era of Risk”
  • House Transportation and Infrastructure — "Oversight of the Department of Transportation's Policies and Programs and Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request" [Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to testify]
  • Senate Judiciary, Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism Subcommittee — Hearings to examine the AI industry's mass ingestion of copyrighted works for AI training

White House What's Up

Late Wednesday morning, President Trump will greet and meet with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain before having lunch with them. He'll participate in a bill-signing ceremony in the afternoon. Then, in the evening, he'll have dinner with the Prime Minister of the State of Qatar.

Vice President JD Vance, fresh off playing his critical tiebreaker role in the Senate Tuesday evening, will head to West Pittston, Pennsylvania, today to deliver remarks following the successful passage and signing of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. And...we can expect he may have to return to play the tiebreaker this evening on the final rescissions package vote.

Full Court Press...

Missouri should be getting another District Court judge soon.

And it turns out that there's reportedly a criminal referral for Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) over his alleged mortgage fraud.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump will be traveling to the United Kingdom at the end of the month, including a visit to Turnberry and Aberdeen, Scotland. (One suspects he may work in a round of golf while there.)

MORNING MUSING

I suppose it's human nature to never quite be satisfied. We excel at griping when things don't go our way. But then, when they do, we often find a way to gripe about that as well: It's not enough; it's not fast enough; it's not the way I want it to be. Somewhere between settling and expecting the world is a sweet spot where we get much — maybe even most — of what we want; just not all.

I highly suspect that perennial dissatisfaction is heightened by social media/online interactions — particularly the monetization of such. Outrage sells —and fosters bad habits and attitudes. It skews expectations and perspective.

I'm not suggesting that we set the expectation bar too low, but stepping back for a better, fuller perspective sometimes isn't a bad thing. Is this administration everything I'd ever want? Is the OBBB or the rescissions package? No, of course not. But nothing this side of Eternity ever will be.

Anyway, this tweet from David Limbaugh got me to thinking about our tendency to let the perfect be the enemy of the good and the importance of not falling into that trap.
