Breaking: 2 Killed in Shooting Outside Capital Jewish Museum, Including Israeli Embassy Staffer (Updated)

There's tragic news out of Washington, D.C., Wednesday evening, as two people reportedly were shot and killed outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum. One of those killed is an Israeli embassy staffer, per reports.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One man and one woman were shot outside of an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in the Northwest neighborhood of Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The two shooting victims are connected to a foreign embassy's diplomatic staff, multiple sources confirmed.

At least one of the people shot is believed to be a member of the Israeli embassy staff, according to sources.

Numerous posts on X are showing video of the scene. There are also reports that witnesses heard the shooter shouting "Free Palestine" before being removed by police. 

The scene outside the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., where two people were killed.

The attack occurred during a reception hosted by the American Jewish Committee’s DC Young Professional Board.

According to witnesses, a man entered the museum shortly after the shooting, wearing a keffiyeh and shouting “Free Palestine” before being removed by police.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is on scene, along with interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro.

Israeli embassy spokesperson Tal Naim Cohen has issued a statement regarding the attack:

“Two staff members of the Israeli embassy were shot this evening at close range while attending a Jewish event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington DC.

"We have full faith in law enforcement authorities on both the local and federal levels to apprehend the shooter and protect Israel’s representatives and Jewish communities throughout the United States.”
