Say What? Schumer Makes Troubling Statement About NJ Dems at Center of ICE Detention Facility Incident

Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been in hot water with the Democrat Party ever since he decided to cave to Republicans and President Donald Trump on the issue of the Continuing Resolution back in mid-March.

Though he went on a media tour shortly thereafter to try and explain his supposed "bravery" in doing so, it didn't help matters, with the entrenched Senator having to postpone book promotion tour dates soon after, with his handlers citing "security concerns" as the reason why.

Schumer also angered middle-class voters by sneering about business owners who want to keep the money they worked hard to earn instead of forking over increasing amounts to Uncle Sam. He stated in a March "View" interview that, "You know what their attitude is, 'I made my money all by myself. How dare your government take my money from me?' I don't want to pay taxes."

Now, with the incident involving the House Democrats from New Jersey at Newark's Delaney Hall ICE detention facility being front and center in the news, Schumer apparently thinks he's found a winning issue that will bring disaffected party members and voters back to his side.

On Tuesday, Schumer was asked about reports that arrests could be coming for New Jersey Democrat Reps. Robert Menendez Jr, Bonnie Watson Coleman, and LaMonica McIver for obstructing arrest and allegedly putting hands on federal officials while attempting to storm the center on "oversight" grounds without arranging a tour in advance, the latter of which is standard protocol according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Instead of condemning the actions of the House members in question - at least one of whom inadvertently admitted they broke the law by trying to obstruct the arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka (D), Schumer chose to gaslight the situation, calling it a "peaceful protest" that the lawmakers might be punished for by the Trump administration:

Excuse me, but this didn't look like a "peaceful protest" to me:

Perhaps even more troubling than the actions of the Democrat House members is the fact that this is at least the second time in one month that Schumer has refused to condemn violence at leftist-orchestrated "protests."

Here's what he said in early April when asked about the violence at Tesla dealerships, which reportedly has included the use of guns, incendiary devices, and arson.

"I can't talk about Tesla, but Elon Musk is a disaster for America, and America knows it," Schumer stated before insulating himself in an elevator. "Look at Wisconsin.”

As I've said before, going by the Democrat Playbook on these matters, "silence = violence," right? The lack of strong denouncements on the violent actions of the Democrats at the illegal immigrant detention center and against Tesla locations is very telling of Democrats, and not in a good way.

Schumer may be playing the dodge-and-weave game because he doesn't want to further alienate those on his side who have turned on him (and who may be mulling a 2028 primary challenge). But considering how just a few short years ago he seemed to advocate for violence against pro-life Supreme Court Justices, but is now turning a blind eye when inciteful Democrat rhetoric is manifesting itself into civil and criminal actions, he shouldn't be surprised if this comes back to bite his party in all the ways it hurts come the 2026 midterms.
