We’ve been covering the story of the aggrieved congresscritters and a progressive mayor who stormed an ICE facility in Newark Friday and seemed to believe the laws don’t apply to them because they’re entitled New Jersey Democrats. Although they have gone on to claim victimhood, video evidence has exposed that they were extremely aggressive and confrontational and seemed to think they could do anything they wanted—including treating federal law enforcement officials like lackeys.

These folks might soon find out that they are not in fact above the law, as the Department of Homeland Security just might be paying some of these violent activists a little visit in the near future:

Lawmakers LaMonica McIver, Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez allegedly stormed the Delaney Hall Detention Center, along with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who was arrested and charged with trespassing. Authorities claim an ICE agent was assaulted in the confrontation, which was caught on camera.

"If it was a typical U.S. citizen, and they tried to storm into a detention facility that's housing dangerous criminals or any person at all, they would be arrested," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told "Fox News Live" host Kevin Corke Saturday. "Just because you are a member of Congress or just because you're a public official, does not mean you are above the law."

McLaughlin continued, saying justice applies to all, regardless of your title:

"If you assault a law enforcement officer, we will also make sure you answer to justice," she added. "So, I think that arrests are still on the table for this. This is an ongoing investigation."

These zealots put law enforcement at risk, as DHS Assistant Sec. McLaughlin charged:

I admit that I did not have DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin on my radar before this episode, but I am quickly becoming a fan because she’s not playing games:

Democrats are always prattling on about “the rule of law,” but they seemingly make no bones about flouting it whenever it suits their needs. This was yet another silly, pathetic, theatrical performative display by House Democrats as they flail for relevance.  

Bring it, DOJ. It’s long past time to bring down the hammer of justice for these violent agitators.
