Here’s How Desperate Elissa Slotkin Is to Avoid Questions About Her Indefensible Defense of Rashida Tlaib

We reported in early November about the pretzel shapes Michigan Democrats were twisting themselves into in trying to defend/coddle anti-Israel Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) after her disgusting reference to the antisemitic "from the river to the sea" chant in a video where she accused Joe Biden of supporting "genocide" and reaffirmed her support for a pro-Hamas ceasefire.

Among them were Senate candidate and Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), who is Jewish, who delicately urged Tlaib to "apologize and retract" the reference after noting that she (Slotkin) was continuing "to reach out to Arab and Muslim constituents who I know are feeling fear and anguish right now."

As we also wrote at the time, Slotkin has been utterly shameless regarding Tlaib. As an example, in the below clip, she described appearing on stage after Tlaib to be tough considering Tlaib was "a bad a**":

Though the video is unddated, the statement was undoubtedly made after Tlaib confirmed to everyone who she really is - which was well before she was elected to Congress.

Fast forward to present day, and though Slotkin has been quick to defend Tlaib in venues where there are no reporters around to question her on it (she infamously did NOT vote to censure Tlaib), she has gone strangely silent on defending Tlaib when there are people around who do have some questions.

Watch below as her staffers bizarrely hold up Slotkin for Senate signs in front of the cameras as she is questioned while coming out of one of her offices. Slotkin is quickly ushered into a nearby vehicle, and never answers the questions:

For someone who wants to win the support of Michigan voters in 2024 in a Senate race that is expected to be competitive, Slotkin is awfully evasive when it comes to important questions that people deserve answers to in the midst of the debate over where people stand on the Israel-Hamas war and the House Hamas Caucus.

To date, Slotkin still has not provided a coherent explanation for why she voted against censuring Tlaib, with the only defense provided at the time being one where she proclaimed that it was Tlaib's First Amendment right to be able to say what she did:

Over the weekend, I made my concerns clear about the language she was promoting, and asked her to recant her statement. But at the end of the day, we all have the right to freedom of speech.

That said, these tit-for-tat attempts to censure members need to stop. If we censured every Member of Congress who said something offensive in this body, we’d never get another quorum.

We have important problems to address, including a potential government shutdown next week. I urge the new Speaker to focus on the real work ahead of us.

Except this is not merely about something "offensive" that was said, and it's about more than free speech. While yes, Tlaib has the "right" to say what she did, that right comes with a responsibility not to veer into dangerous territory that involves advocating for the genocide of Jewish people, which is exactly what Tlaib did in that video.

Further, Slotkin implied in her statement that this wasn't an important problem that needed addressing in a Congressional setting and said that everyone needed to move on to the "real work ahead of us."

Personally, I can't think of much of anything that is more important than holding a member of the House of Representatives to account for promoting the extermination of people who share Slotkin's Jewish faith.

That Slotkin expects people not to see right through what she (Slotkin) is trying to do here in deliberately avoiding the bigger issue is quite frankly an insult to voters of all faiths in Michigan, who we can only hope don't make the mistake those in Tlaib's district continue to in reelecting her to higher office.
