Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) showed up at the Black Entrepreneur State Fair over the weekend and decided the moment called for some dancing.
Unfortunately for everyone with working eyes, he felt the dancing should come from him. What followed was one of the stiffest, most awkward performances you’ll see from a grown man in public.
Frey starts out with some sort of hybrid robot effort, before trying to emulate the performer's dance moves in front of him. Or, as I like to call it, he tried to culturally appropriate some of his rather smooth moves.
Feast your eyes on this carnage. This absolute peak white progressive humiliation ritual.

Elaine Benes thinks those dance moves are suspect.
Look, I'm not above admitting I don't have a rhythmic bone in my body. But with that knowledge comes the responsibility that you absolutely, under no circumstances, try to counter that fact ... in public.
Social media being what it is, the short and stout theater kid got thoroughly roasted for his effort.
"So some voters really like being pandered to this hard, huh? Alrighty," one viewer wrote on X.
"Why are Democrats so damned weird?" another wondered, asking a question that has gone unanswered for decades now.
Another assessed the damage thusly: "That dance was stiff as a board. Zero rhythm, all effort. Brutal for real.”
"Brutal for Real" should be his next campaign slogan, wherever he decides to run next. Hell, "Brutal for Real" should be the DNC slogan.
I'm still on the fence as to whether or not Frey's cringe efforts are better or worse than that time Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) tried to rap at a hip hop concert.
No, you read that right.
Hip Hop fans in 2021 had the joy of getting down to some of Chuck's sick beats: "I got the bars, I got the plaque, I got the music, we got it all! We are the Bronx!"
We are ... dying of embarrassment!

Ah, Chuck. The Fresh Prince of Park Slope.
Back to J-Frey. This isn't the first time the Minneapolis mayor has humiliated himself dancing on stage. Who could forget him busting a move while waving a Somali flag and donning a Somali T-shirt at the Somali Independence Day celebration last summer?
What a rube.
And then there was this effort at pandering for votes during his 2025 reelection bid, in which he seemingly tried to replicate those viral chicken bobbing dance videos while walking out to the crowd.
How is this real life?
Hey, maybe he's preparing for a career outside of public office when his term is up. A career on stage. Frey famously got his start acting in 2020, when he was filmed sobbing uncontrollably next to George Floyd's golden casket.

A riveting performance. Five stars. Two thumbs up. No notes.
Frey should probably stick to the dramatic roles. "Dancing With the Stars" isn't going to come calling anytime soon.
