This Video Shows the Futility in Trying to Explain Basic Facts to CNN Analysts: ‘You Are Literally Lying’

A panel discussion on "CNN NewsNight With Abby Phillip" came to a train-wreck conclusion when the host and Democratic strategist Julie Roginsky repeatedly insisted that the price of eggs has gone up under President Trump.

Scott Jennings, host of "The Scott Jennings Show" on Salem Radio, tried valiantly to steer Phillip and Roginsky back to the truth, but to no avail.

The exchange is a microcosm of what it's like trying to get the network to report the truth. It also constitutes evidence of Jennings having all the qualifications for verified sainthood.

The premise behind the argument, as presented by Roginsky, is that egg prices are technically up based on a year-over-year analysis. She suggests that some level of panic in recent economic reports is warranted.

“It‘s not panic when we were promised on August 15th of last year that the price of eggs, that the price of bacon, the price of apple — “ Roginsky claims.

So ... a candidate for President making a promise on eggs is responsible for what happens in the last five months of his predecessor's presidency?

Jennings chimed in with the truth: "Price of eggs is down. Sixty-nine percent they’re down.”

He repeatedly states, quite succinctly, "They're down."

Roginsky again insists the prices are "much higher now," prompting Jennings to reply, "It is not. You are literally lying about the eggs.”

After the battering with facts, Phillip tags in and reiterates the 'year-over-year' claims. She doesn't fare much better.

“You’ve totally derailed this conversation," Jennings claps back at Roginsky. "She‘s trying to have a serious panel, and you‘re out here arguing about eggs.”

Arguing ineffectively, we might add.

"I think people have the ability to understand the difference between the price of eggs today and the price of eggs a year ago today, versus what you would prefer to talk about, which is the price of eggs when Donald Trump was inaugurated," Phillip charged.

“Aren’t we talking about [Trump's] policies?” Jennings replied, while his opposition insisted that Biden's policies are somehow attached to Trump's pledge.

Philip said to agree to disagree and ended the segment.

The whole thing is just brutal to watch. The absolute confidence in the CNN host and panelist in declaring what they believe to be facts. The introduction of truth to the equation. And the refusal of that same host and panelist to accept said truth.

This segment is an indication of what Jennings goes through on a nightly basis. As such, we reiterate once again - Sainthood.

This, by the way, is the same network that for months insisted that the price of eggs was not going down, that Trump was lying, and then had to publish this amazing Jedi Mind Trick of an article with the headline - "Trump’s egg price fiction has suddenly become reality."

"For months, President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that egg prices are tumbling. It wasn’t true then, but it’s true now," the lede statement reads.

That's an interesting way of saying 'We were wrong all along.'

Unfortunately for them, Phillip, and Roginsky, even their year-over-year argument betrays them - the average cost of a dozen eggs in July of 2024 under Biden was $3.08. Today, they are $2.89.

Better luck next time, ladies.
