New: Dems Are Going to Freak Out at Latest Maine Senate Poll

Democrats hitched their wagon to the scandal-plagued Graham Platner in their desperation to grab back the Senate.

They wrongly pinned their hopes on him being up in the polls. But that was before all the dirt that's out there started to drop. Then so did the polls, as we saw that lead start to fall away, dropping to just one or two points.

Bad News for Dems With Latest Polling Data on Platner

Now, his unhinged past seems to have largely caught up to Platner in the latest poll from Fox News. This poll has Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) up by 3 points, 50 to 47 percent.

That puts the Real Clear Politics average with Platner only up by +0.7.

While there's a concern about Collins' time in office, the concern about Platner's judgment is greater.

More than half say Platner lacks the judgment to serve as a U.S. senator, while a similar share believes Collins has been in office too long.

Yet concerns about Platner run a bit deeper. Nearly 4 in 10 are extremely worried about his judgment compared with 3 in 10 who say the same about Collins' lengthy tenure.

Collins' favorables and unfavorables are also better than his. She has 47 percent favorable to his 43 percent. Unfavorable has him at 53 percent, her at 50.

This is in a state that tends left and had Kamala Harris up by seven points in 2024.

The other thing that's interesting here is once again, while the radical leftists like Platner posture as being for the "working class," the working class — the people who often have to deal more with the ugly consequences of Democrat failure — is going for Collins.

In the horse race, Collins’ edge primarily comes from men (+10 points), voters without a college degree (+15), gunowner households (+21), and rural voters (+8).  For the most part, she is matching her performance among these groups compared to her most recent re-election, according to the 2020 Maine Fox News Voter Analysis election survey.

Meanwhile:

Platner is preferred among women (+5 points), voters with a college degree (+15), and suburban voters and moderates (+10 each). He is underperforming former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 support among those groups.  The 2024 Maine FNVA finds she won women by 10 points, voters with a degree by 42, suburban voters by 27, and moderates by 24.

As we've reported before, Susan Collins has historically outperformed the polling, winning even when the polls had her opponents up 6-8 points.

Trump's Surprising, Hilarious Endorsement of Maine Senate Candidate

Additionally, this is before the drop-out/replacement date of July 14, and potentially even more stuff to come on Platner.

Democrats, knowing all this, have to be freaking out.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
