House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) does not do a great media job speaking for the Democrats, and he proved that again on Monday during an appearance on Good Day New York.
Jeffries tried to buffalo the anchors and the audience by criticizing President Donald Trump over "skyrocketing gas prices."
"It was a reckless war of choice that has obviously cost the American people significantly, particularly as it relates to skyrocketing gas prices in an environment where the cost of living was already too high," Jeffries said.
This claim from Jeffries has two problems. First, oil prices have already been coming down because of the peace negotiations with Iran. Second, now that a deal is being signed, the prices are likely to drop even more, as shipping returns to normal.

On top of that, local anchor Rosanna Scotto smacked Jeffries with some more big facts, dropping a little history on him.

HOST: Gas prices were up under Obama
JEFFRIES: Well, listen
HOST: And Biden, right?
JEFFRIES: Well, I’m not…
HOST: Didn’t we have gas prices over $5?
JEFFRIES: Well
HOST: I remember eggs were like $12 a dozen pic.twitter.com/CDcLlfpOHV
Scotto leveled him, saying there were high gas prices under both Barack Obama and Joe Biden, "Gas prices were up under Obama, too. And Biden, right?"
When Jeffries stammered in response, Scotto pressed him about how high the gas prices were under Biden, "Didn’t we have gas prices over $5.00?"
"Well, there were gas prices in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic situation..." Jeffries said, trying to justify it.
That, of course, wasn't true. It wasn't the "immediate aftermath," it was 2022. Then, Biden and the Democrats tried to escape responsibility and blamed Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, and not Biden's anti-energy policies. The national average in June 2022 went over $5.00.
Scotto also helpfully reminded Jeffries how high eggs were under Biden, joking they were "like $12 a dozen." Now, under Trump, through direct action to reduce egg prices, they are far lower. They were $4.82 a dozen on average in Jan. 2023 under Biden. They were $2.19 on average for a dozen in May 2026.

Does Jeffries think we all have 15-second memories and can't remember how bad things were? Democrats have been so coddled by the media that they're not able to answer when they are asked real, persistent questions. But it's pretty embarrassing for Democrats that this guy, their "speaker," has such difficulty with the media.
Jeffries also should stop wearing hats if he can't get one to fit him that doesn't make him look goofy.
