Uh-Oh: Spencer Pratt Files Complaint, Says Karen Bass Filmed Herself Violating Election Law

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has a major problem as she runs for reelection.

She's done a horrible job, including a terrible response to the Palisades Fire, and one of the people who lost his house as a consequence, Spencer Pratt, is now coming for her job.

Even in the blue area of Los Angeles, Pratt may just have a chance because people are so tired of the failure, and Pratt has a real talent for presenting a logical and hopeful alternative. He's now largely closed the gap in polling for the jungle primary.

Meanwhile, Karen Bass is not handling it well and doesn't seem to be able to get a handle on how to reach out to people. Of course, bad policies are not generally good things to point to with prospective voters.

However, now Bass has just done something in that attempt to reach people that's raising some eyebrows.

Here she is, encouraging people to vote, with supporters around her with "Karen Bass" signs.

Then you see her and others putting ballots in a drop box as others chant "Four more years," and it sounds like she's saying, "One more vote to win."

Except there may be a big problem here, and Pratt wasn't shy about pointing it out. Indeed, he's filed a formal complaint, alleging that she just "violated election law" for campaigning too close to a drop box.

Karen Bass just violated election law here. She is so accustomed to breaking the law with no accountability, she even filmed herself doing it. Well, those days are over. We just filed a formal complaint for illegally gaming the election. We must protect our democracy.

Electioneering within 100 feet of a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW. Soliciting votes at a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW. These clear violations show a reckless disregard for the rule of law and our democratic process. Someone in a position of power should be especially respectful of our democratic laws, but this is just emblematic of Karen's mafia-like regime. It's "rules for thee, but not for me".

Here is the formal complaint we filed this morning. We will uphold the rule of law and our democratic norms. Enjoy your conference calls with your lawyers, Karen!

Pratt's attorney, Peter McNulty, said they had filed complaints with the city and the state. His letter to the city accused Bass of electioneering and showing a "reckless disregard for the law." This type of activity can intimidate and influence voters, McNulty said.

The Bass campaign has responded.

The campaign said the video was filmed at two separate locations. According to the campaign, the portion featuring campaign signs was shot in the middle of the park, while the second location showed the ballot drop box. The campaign claims the two locations were roughly 200 feet apart.

Except it's not just about signs. The video showed people chanting, "Four more years" at the drop box and "one more vote to win." So please explain that, Mayor Bass.

We'll have to see if any action is taken on the complaint since it's Los Angeles, or if protection of the "D" happens again.
