There were a lot of reactions to the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday.
Some rose to the occasion, as President Donald Trump himself did, trying to reassure everyone and making sure people were okay.
Some, like unhinged Trump haters, did not, calling it "staged" or "false flag." Some had ridiculous takes, like Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8), who asked, "What rhetoric?" when asked about the rhetoric Democrats have leveled against Trump for the past ten years.

Then there was Barack Obama. What he posted late Sunday afternoon about the shooting was rather incredible.

Although we don’t yet have the details about the motives behind last night's shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, it’s incumbent upon all us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy. It’s also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that U.S. Secret Service Agents show every day. I’m grateful to them – and thankful that the agent who was shot is going to be okay.
Now, by the time this was posted, the identity of the shooter and what he allegedly said about targeting Trump officials had been known since at least early morning. He even had a "manifesto" where he allegedly laid out the "why," as we reported. He repeated attacks against Trump that showed he was influenced by the Democratic narratives.
“I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes,” Allen wrote, apparently referring to the president
But Obama, who is not a stupid man, leaves out those facts, instead opting for the generic "let us all reject violence" approach. While he mentions the Secret Service agent, there's also no mention of the president or Trump administration officials.
One of the reasons we're here is the constant division pushed by the Democrats against Trump for at least ten years.
Is he thinking that if he doesn't acknowledge the political motivation, people will ignore it?
Well, he was disabused of that rather quickly, as he was ripped into next week by virtually everyone who commented on the post and read him the riot act about gaslighting people.
Let’s not pretend to be this clueless about motive, @BarackObama

The attempted assassin put out an anti-Trump manifesto about wanting to kill Trump Admin officials, minutes before trying to storm a ballroom filled with the President, VP, Cabinet, and many others from his Admin. https://t.co/GvpJ6cJuUK
No clues in his manifesto, Sherlock? https://t.co/lieXxT9IsY

This is a lie—the gunman's manifesto was published six hours ago. But it's also a confession—an admission that the motive is damning to President Obama's side, hence the need to lie. https://t.co/0JPUQEQTly
