President Donald Trump spoke at the Future Investment Initiative Summit (FLL) Priority Summit in Miami Beach on Friday.
His remarks hit on the two big topics of the day: the military action against Iran and the fight to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Trump explained that now they were "closer than ever to the rise of a Middle East, free at last from Iranian terror, aggression, and nuclear blackmail."
.@POTUS at the FII Priority Summit in Miami: "Tonight, we're closer than ever to the rise of the Middle East that is finally free at last from Iranian terror... For 47 years, Iran has been known as the bully of the Middle East — but they are not the bully any longer." pic.twitter.com/rFLJ9Gicyg

"For 47 years, Iran has been known as the bully of the Middle East — but they are not the bully any longer," he declared.
He pointed out how he took out Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani in his first term, and speculated on how some of the Iranian leaders might have been happy about that because he was so feared.

"He was so powerful that I really think that the leadership of Iran was extremely happy when I took him out, but they don't say that — but nobody's going to be asking them anymore because they're not here either." pic.twitter.com/2Jq1xIEIO2
"But now they're not here either," he observed, because now so many of them have been taken out in Operation Epic Fury.
The president said they were negotiating now, but that they had to fully open up the Strait of Hormuz, instead of selectively letting just some through. But Trump, being Trump, jabbed them and the media with a little bit of humor.
.@POTUS: "We're negotiating now, and it would be great if we could do something, but they have to open it up. They have to open up the Strait of Trump—I mean Hormuz. Excuse me, I'm so sorry. Such a terrible mistake." 🤣 pic.twitter.com/TqZptrkEo0

"They have to open up the Strait of Trump—I mean Hormuz. Excuse me, I'm so sorry. Such a terrible mistake," he snarked. He noted the "fake news" media would likely say he made a mistake (rather than reporting the humor).
Trump explained it was because of the conflict with Iran that it was "absolutely vital" for the Democrats in Congress to end their dangerous shutdown of the DHS.
.@POTUS: "For 42 days, [Democrats] have tried to completely eliminate funding for the number one duty of government, which is keeping America Safe. They want no ICE, they want no Border Patrol... re-opening our Borders and stopping all immigration enforcement in our country." pic.twitter.com/0EnY9eaHkB

Trump excoriated them, "For 42 days, [Democrats] have tried to completely eliminate funding for the number one duty of government, which is keeping America safe. They want no ICE, they want no Border Patrol, they want no protection of any kind, re-opening our Borders, and stopping all immigration enforcement in our country."
The president said that he'd like to leave a legacy as a peacemaker for the wars he'd helped to settle.
.@POTUS: "I know it doesn't sound right for me to say this, but I'd love my legacy to be made as a great peacemaker — because I really believe I'm a peacemaker. It doesn't seem it right now, but I think I'm a peacemaker." pic.twitter.com/NYQSt8wLsv

If he can pull off what he's trying to do now with Iran, he could end the 47 years of threats and killings, and as an outgrowth, have a friendly government in charge. That could cinch him a legacy of truly having made the world better, while being in the best interests of America's security.
Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
