DNC Summer Meeting Shows Exactly Why They're Failing

I wrote over the weekend about the predicament the Democrats are in.

The massive shift in party registration numbers over the past four years is stunning. It has Democrats losing more than two million people and Republicans gaining 2.4 million in the 30 states that have party registration. Then there's the Democrats' approval at a 35-year low, according to a July Wall Street Journal poll. Another poll had them at 19 percent approval. Then there's the redistricting battle, which is likely to shift five seats in Texas to the Republicans. If the Democrats want to fight that battle, the edge is to the Republicans because they stand more to gain from redrawn maps.

While it's still early, and normally, the party out of power can expect gains in the midterms, numbers indicate it will be a tough road for the Democrats. Not to mention that, at this point, the Republicans have a huge leg up on the money, not just in terms of the RNC and DNC, but in terms of money raised for swing seats.

The Democrats are holding their summer meeting now, trying to figure out how to regroup and deal with their issues. But they haven't seemed to have learned anything about how to connect with the American people.

They started with a "land acknowledgement."

People want to know what they are going to do to fix the issues now, what their positions on the economy are. And they wonder why their approval is cratering and why people think they are disconnected from the issues. It doesn't sound like they're tacking to the center or avoiding the same pitfalls. They just keep digging the hole deeper.

Then DNC Chair Ken Martin ranted.

"I'm sick and tired of this Democrat Party bringing a pencil to a knife fight. We cannot be the only party that plays by the rules anymore! We've gotta stand up and fight! We're not going to have a hand tied behind our back anymore. Let's grow a damn spine and get in this fight, Democrats!"

Um, I have a question. When will they start playing by the rules? And "pencil to a knife fight?"

This is a hilarious response. They act like they're somehow been inhibited, when the problem has been themselves from the start. All they've been focused on is attacking President Donald Trump and defending illegal aliens. They haven't been focused on promoting any policies that would help the American people. That's why people are rejecting them.

They apparently were even divided on whether they should talk about being divided, with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) saying there shouldn't be such a "we suck" emphasis.

Calling out how you're wrong is right. But the problem is, they have no idea how to do anything right.

So what were they doing at their meeting? Doubling down on the Trump attacks and leftist extremism.

Martin called him a dictator and a fascist. Because that's worked so well for the past ten years that the voters elected him back into office in 2024.

Trump doesn't have a problem with immigrants. His mother and his wife are immigrants. He has a problem with people entering the country illegally. But Democrats keep trying to conflate illegal aliens with legal immigrants. So all the American people see is, once again, Democrats don't care and aren't living in reality.

They had a presentation on crime, and they showed a strange take that it's better to be "serious about safety" than "tough on crime" in messaging.

Then, too, you can always count on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) for some absolutely nutty remarks.

"May his [Trump's] fat ankles find something today," he complained. "Petty as hell!"

There's your problem, Democrats. That was your VP candidate. That's how messed up you are. He claims Trump is petty, but he's wishing something happens to him because Trump has chronic venous insufficiency, which can swell the ankles? How sick and petty can you be?

This is sure to appeal to some of the 77 million Trump voters who you might want to get to switch sides. Just attack them and call them "cruel.' He says Trump is talking about flag-burning because people want to burn flags with his picture. Huh?
