Elon Musk Celebrates Community Notes and Wrecks Deadspin's Attack on Child, Ted Cruz Joins in the Fun

As we reported, Deadspin did a despicable hit job on a child at a Kansas City Chiefs game, accusing him of wearing "blackface." They also took a deceptive angle in the picture to support their attack.

"The NFL needs to speak out against the Kansas City Chiefs fan in Black face, native headdress," Deadspin trumpeted.

But there was a small problem with this story. The full shot of the child showed how ridiculous this hit job was. He wasn't in blackface; he was wearing the colors of his team — a time-honored sports tradition of painting your face with the team colors.

The article itself was even worse. It also turns out the writer of the article has some problematic tweets of his own when it comes to race.

But Community Notes wasn't having any of Deadspin's "spin" and just wrecked them.

The picture on the article is misleading. Other pictures of the child in question show that the other half of his face is painted red, black and red being the team's colors.

Not to mention that this was a child who the magazine has now painted as a horrible racist. They want to ask questions? They should ask what were they thinking, doing that to a child.

Now, Elon Musk has weighed in, saying, "Media lies."

Musk noted it was now much harder to "deceive the public" and took a justifiable victory lap for instituting Community Notes, which has been a great boon to communication on X.

Musk said this might be too much for some of them, that they might leave the platform, and that would make X more of a bastion of truth than other platforms. He also called attention to some more Note drops

This one was one of my favorites that I wrote about.

It's a great thing. Now, people can't claim malarkey without getting nailed with reality, and even folks like Joe Biden have had the dreaded Community Note dropped on them. This is perhaps one of the greatest things Musk has brought to the platform. Now, all these characters have to think again about what they might say because Community Notes might nail them if they don't.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) joined in the fun.

It's been a few years, but it's a reminder of the time Cruz "owned" Deadspin in an exchange that showed how empty they truly were.

Deadspin might just want to quit while they are behind. Like Cruz, that little kid may end up owning them.
