Joe Biden doesn’t seem to give a darn about debt negotiations or our economic status.
First, he refused to even talk with Republicans for 97 days. But since he has been talking, he doesn’t want to cut anything, he just wants to keep spending us into the poor house. He’s completely in the thrall of the leftist wing of his party and they don’t want him to agree with the Republicans. Unfortunately for the Democrats, Americans want cuts and they see Joe Biden as the obstacle here. The Republicans already passed a bill, it’s Biden who isn’t getting it done and Americans see it. A new Fox poll is showing that Americans would ascribe any blame here, quite rightly, to Joe Biden.
So what is Biden doing in the face of all this? We’ve already been put on a “credit negative watch” because of him. But he’s not changing anything about his habits — he’s out the door for yet one more weekend vacation on Friday, with time in both Camp David and at his home in Delaware. He’s already spent about 40 percent of his time in office away on vacation, and there he goes again, hang agreeing on anything of substance.
But let’s hear how urgent he thinks things are from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
"…the president is going to Camp David this weekend, going to Delaware. Can you describe the sense of urgency that the president feels?"
Karine Jean-Pierre: "There's always been urgency!"

“We’ve called this out, over and over again, how urgent it is,” KJP claimed. Then why did he delay for so long and why are you trying to lie about that now? Why is he taking off then?
Karine Jean-Pierre claimed yesterday that Biden has been engaged on debt ceiling negotiations "for months" — except she spent months insisting the exact opposite.

Meanwhile, McCarthy is staying there, so again the onus is on Biden.
I’m staying in DC to fight for an agreement that’s worthy of the American people—for as long as it takes.
I will continue the fight to curb inflation, stop reckless spending, make our economy stronger, and end our dependence on China.

But how bad is it? Biden once again couldn’t even figure out who was at the White House during an event on Thursday. He was announcing his nominee to be the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — General Charles Q. Brown, Jr. But during his remarks, Biden called out for someone who wasn’t there.

“Representative Calhoun. Excuse me! Calhoun’s not here. Uh, McCollum,” Biden stammered. Not only wasn’t “Rep. Calhoun” there, as far as I can tell, but there is also no “Rep. Calhoun” — I checked the records of members and I have no idea who he’s talking about there. There is Paula Calhoon who is a Republican state representative in South Carolina. There was, famously, John C. Calhoun, who was a representative in the 1800s, but even Biden isn’t old enough to remember him. So it sounds like he had no idea who he was talking about again.
Biden did ultimately amend what he was saying to “McCollum” which doesn’t sound anything like “Calhoun.” At least there is a Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) currently serving.
Reporters tried to get some answers out of him about the debt negotiations but he refused to answer any questions.

Biden said during his remarks that he thought they were getting closer, but at this point, he doesn’t seem to put anything as a priority except calling an early lid and getting his ice cream. He certainly doesn’t seem to give a darn about the economy or how badly he’s affected it with his horrific policies. As my colleague Becca Lower reported, there are also some disturbing reports about what they may be coming together on that might lose GOP support. We’ll have to see what comes out of it, but the clock is ticking and it’s not looking good at this point.
