This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions. We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.
A witness told police they were with the victim walking eastbound in the 1300 block of H. St. NE when the suspect, who was hiding in a corner “popped out of the corner and proceeded to stab (the victim) multiple times,” police said in a news release.
The witness and the victim were able to get the suspect down to the ground.
The police arrived on the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital.
The suspect who was arrested has been identified as 42-year-old Glynn Neal, of Southeast, D.C. He was charged with Assault with Intent to Kill with a knife.
Rand Paul himself has been subject to multiple attacks and threats in the past including a serious incident where he was attacked by a neighbor and suffered broken ribs as well as severe lung damage. He was also on the field when a leftist attacker shot up the GOP baseball practice several years ago.
This is a developing story, we will update you as more information becomes available.
