Russia and Ukraine held peace talks on Monday that reached no results, but they did agree to meet again.

But once that ended, Russia went back to trying to hit Kyiv.

Despite Russians having the manpower and weapons, Ukrainians have held their own for days now, with great courage. While Russia is staffed in part with people who are unwilling conscripts and people who apparently were lied to even about fighting in Ukraine, Ukrainians know they are fighting for the survival of their nation. Russia has reportedly suffered a massive number of troops killed in just a few days, with over 4,300 dead.

In part, Ukraine has survived because of the inspiration provided by its leader, President Volodymyr Zelensky. If ever there was a man made for his time, that would be Zelensky. A man who some thought was a joke when he ran and won, he’s now become a world hero for the way that he has stood up in the face of the prodigious Russian attack.

When offered an out by the U.S to be rescued, Zelensky said “I need ammunition, not a ride.” He’s taken videos of himself all over Kyiv to let his people know that he stands with them and he’s not cutting and running. His latest video is something else too.

“When I planned to become a president, I said that each of us is the president,” Zelensky declared. “Because we are all responsible for our state. For our beautiful Ukraine. And now it has happened that each of us is a warrior. The warrior in his or her own place. And I am confident that each of us will win.”

That kind of attitude is stoking the courage of each Ukrainian to stand and fight. It’s why they’ve held them off now for days. It’s why Kyiv is still standing at this moment. But it’s also why if Kyiv were to fall, the people would fight on.

Former Trump Administration national security official Gen. Keith Kellogg was on “Outnumbered” with Harris Faulkner today and he said that he didn’t think the Russians were doing very well at all, considering these were supposed to be their frontline units. He said indeed it was embarrassing and making people reevaluate what they had previously thought about the Russian army.

“There’s an old saying,” Kellogg said. “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight that counts, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” He said the heart of the army sometimes means more than the physical. “If I was Russia, I’d be very concerned right now. In my opinion, today, Russia is losing this fight…But they’ve shown the whole world that they can be beat and he’s (Zelensky’s) proven it today”

Now, you can’t forget that Russia has a ton of manpower that they are still going to throw at Kyiv. Indeed, there’s reportedly a huge military convoy on the way to the city now. As Kellogg noted, the Ukrainians had taken out a lot of their tanks with Javelins and needed more. But the Russians can’t take out all the people. And that’s what they would have to do to fully conquer them and they’re not going to like having to hold onto an occupation because they wouldn’t be able to sustain that and they’ll face massive resistance.
